1921 ~ 2015
Teola Jane Gordon, 93, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015. She was born June 25, 1921 in Kenilworth, Utah, the daughter of Carl Eugene and Revella Nelson Sitterud. She married Richard R. Gordon on June 25, 1940 in Huntington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
She loved knitting, crocheting and sewing. She spent countless hours reading and completing crossword puzzles. For more than 30 years she was devoted to her Special Sunday School Class of young people and adults with special needs. Her love and devotion to her “Kids” was noted by the Salt Lake Tribune, which featured an article in praise of her efforts.
She is survived by son, Jerry (Laurie) Gordon, Austin, Texas; daughter, Helen (Craig) Carpenter, Sandy, Utah; son-in-law, Dan (Marilyn) Burch; granddaughters, Kristen Gordon, Elisa Burch; sisters, Dottie (Boyd) Ames, Ogden, Utah, Helen Collard, Clearfield, Utah, Patricia (Bob) World, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; brother, David (Louise) Sitterud, Phoenix, Ariz.; special family member, Eileen Snarr; great-grandchildren, Kylie Shaw and Justin Shaw; and many wonderful nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Carolyn Burch; brothers, Dallas Sitterud, Douglas Sitterud and Vernon Sitterud; sisters, Enid Fife, Gladys Sitterud; grandson, Jon Burch; and brothers-in-law, Don Collard and Harold Fife.
Viewings and funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. Interment took place at the Murray City Cemetery.
The family suggested in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation, Heart or Cancer Charity.
