The Orangeville City Council spent much time discussing the drought, Cottonwood Creek Consolidated Irrigation Company and what water restrictions should be imposed upon Orangeville citizens.
The water in Joe’s Valley Dam is low, the snow pack in the mountains is less than 40 percent of normal and the dam will not come close to spilling this year. Cottonwood Creek Irrigation Company expects to deliver less than half of what the water shares owned by the city.
The Orangeville City Council agreed on the following secondary water restrictions for the summer growing season of 2015. Orangeville residents from the west side of town can water lawns and gardens on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday The hours for watering are from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Residents on the East side of town can water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There will be no residential watering on Sunday or during the middle of the day. Orangeville will be monitoring the secondary water usage. Further water restrictions may be needed at a later date. The use of culinary water outside the home is prohibited.
Orangeville City encourages all residents to conserve water where possible.
Todd Thorne representing Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments came before Orangeville City Council to let the city know there are loans and grants available to help businesses comply with the American’s Disability Act. Todd is the program manager of the SEUALG revolving loan fund assisting private businesses obtain funds for business improvements.
