HUNTINGTON-Clarence “Neil” Howard, age 72, began his new journey on Jan. 24, 2015, following a massive stroke. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.
He was born April 18, 1942 to Charles Neil and Delta Brown Howard in Salt Lake City. Neil was a longtime resident of Emery County and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He proudly joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country honorably during Vietnam. On Sept. 4, 1968, he married the love of his life, Joyce Stone in Reno, Nev.
“Rooster” worked many years as a coal miner and eventually retired from Nielson Construction where he loved working as a truck driver and mechanic. He was a tireless worker who in his later years enjoyed helping his son Chet at Allred Irrigation. Neil loved the outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren and he was always up for a game of horseshoes.
Survived by his wife Joyce; children, Jackie (Titus) Hilliard, Amy (Brent) Fairbanks, Pacee (Chet) Allred, Del Lynn Burnside, Fernando (Emerita) Uribe and Chad (Diana) Howard; sisters, Nancy and best friend/brother Steve Espanet and Sylvia (Glenn) Nelson; grandchildren, Coldel and Taylor, Jaylee, Jacee, Ceaira, Ashlynn, Brittany, Taiden, Cache, Presley, Tyler, Ashley, Landon, Vanessa, Fernando Jr. (Julia) and Juan; one great grandchild Junior Uribe and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, 12 noon at the Huntington City Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday at the Huntington Stake Center from 9-11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Neil online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
