Emery Spartan swimmers finish second

The Emery High swim teams hosted North Summit High, Carbon High and Gunnison Valley High last week at the Emery Aquatic Center in Castle Dale. North Summit edged the Spartans in both the men’s division and women’s division. The scores were women 97-78 with Carbon scoring 75 and Gunnison scoring 30. The men’s scores were 116-96 with Carbon scoring 70 and Gunnison 4 points.
Emery’s Madi Allinson had a good meet as the Spartan senior won the 200-yard IM, the 100-yard backstroke and was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team along with Kaitlyn Carter, Erin Oliverson and Shaylynn Rowley. Allinson was also on the 200-yard medley relay team that finished third. Also on the team were Carter, Oliverson and Tarryn Parkins.
Kaitlyn Carter, besides swimming on those two relay teams, won the 500-yard freestyle race and finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.
Erin Oliverson also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.
For the guys, Daryl Guymon won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke and swam on the 200-yard medley relay team with Devin Willson, Nate Gilbert and Garret Stilson that finished second and 400-yard relay team with the same guys that also finished second.
Stilson also won the 500-yard freestyle race and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle.
Other second place finishes were had by Willson in the 200-yard IM and in the 100-yard backstroke and by Gilbert in the 50-yard freestyle. Gilbert also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle.
