Lady Pirates struggle as season begins

The Lady Pirates have had a rough start to the season as they have now played eight ball games and have won just two of them. Green River lost to Milford to start the season by the score of 44-22 as Green River couldn’t get the ball to go in the basket. Presley Lovato led the team in scoring in this game with 9 points and Savannah Williams was second with 5 points.
The Pirates then won two straight games as the defeated Altamont 38-37 and they defeated Intermountain Christian 46-32. Maribel Escalante led the team in scoring in the Altamont game with 15 points and Williams again was second in scoring with 12 points. The Pirates have not won again.
Green River was next edged by Grand with a score of 50-42 as Williams scored 9 points to lead the way with Escalante scoring 8 points and Lovato, Justice Hatfield and Miranda Johnson each scoring 7 points. The next game was against Tabiona and the Pirates lost 62-45. Williams led the way with 14 points and Lovato added 13 points and Escalante added 12 points.
Green River next played Tintic and lost the game 62-45 with Escalante scoring 16 points to lead the way. Hatfield added 8 points. Green River came close to knocking off bigger San Juan but instead lost 54-47.
Williams and Escalante each scored 15 points in the loss. Finally, Green River played Grand again and the Pirates lost again 61-41 with Williams leading the way with 17 points.
Green River will next face Wayne at Wayne on Tuesday December 15.
