“I’m Just Wild About Harry” comes to Emery High Stage
The Emery High Drama Department will present their fall musical on November 16, 17, 18, and 19 at the Emery High Auditorium each night at 7 p.m. “I’m Just Wild About Harry” is a wild and hilarious romp through love and courtship and confusion that is appropriate for the entire family.
Set in 1910, two young men, Harry and Jack want to court two young women, Katy and Margie but can’t do so because they don’t have a chaperone. Harry’s aunt, who he’s never met, is coming from Brazil and could serve as their chaperone. Problem solved? Not quite. When she fails to show up they grab their roommate Benjamin and throw a dress and a wig on him and get him to impersonate Harry’s aunt.
That would be fine except the aunt is rich and quickly attracts the attention of the girls’ uncle and Jack’s father who begin to fight for the fake aunt’s hand in marriage. Then the real aunt shows up to find that someone is impersonating her – that’s when it gets complicated. This fun comic farce is based on the stage play “Charlie’s Aunt” and is the first play of the season for the Emery High Drama Department. The play runs four nights and is double-cast to give more students opportunity.
The cast includes Cameron Price as Harry; Dalton Bennett as Jack; Simone Burton and Laci Hulse as Katy; Michaela Wolfort and Abby Blackwell as Margie and Drama Sterling Scholar Garrett Stilson as Benjamin and Harry’s aunt, Donna Lucia Juan Paco Pedro De Alomar, De Alvadorez. Others include David White as Jack’s father Frank; Parker Stilson as the girls uncle Guido Spettigue; Nancy Dawes and Brooklyn Potter as the real aunt Donna Lucia, and as her traveling companion Ida, Erin Oliverson and Afton Grindley.
Tickets are $4 for students, $5 for adults and children under 5 are free.
The Emery High Drama Department sponsored a Castle Dale Ghost Tour in October to help raise money for the production which has rented costumes from the Hale Center Theatre. The Drama Department’s future plans include a Variety Show on Dec. 5 at the Emery High Auditorium, a February play, a March play, and a final play in May. This will be the 182nd production that the director, Neal Peacock has produced in 34 years of teaching. This will be his 49th musical and will be the 34th play in a row for Emery High produced the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
