The Emery County races that were decided in the general election included the commission race between Danny Van Wagoner and Lynn Sitterud. Sitterud took this race and will become an Emery County Commissioner in January. The school board included three races. In Ferron, McKenzi Guymon won the seat over Tanie Worthen. This was the seat vacated by long time educator Sam Singleton. In Castle Dale, board president Laurel Johansen retained her seat over challenger Kelli Nelson.
The seat that wasn’t decided on election night and a tie vote was recorded after the votes in this district were counted was appointed board member Julie Wilson and challenger Tracey Johnson. This race will be decided at the vote canvass on Nov. 15. This was the seat vacated by Nanette Tanner. Wilson was appointed to this spot by school board members to fill the unexpired term of Tanner. There are nine provisional and absentee ballots which will be opened and counted at this vote canvass.
In Emery County there are 6,075 registered voters and 4,334 voters cast their ballots for a voter turn out of 71.34 percent.
