The Emery High Lady Spartan volleyball team won two matches last week and this “new” team is starting to play well together.
After having been a senior dominated team last season, this group of girls are gelling as a team and are playing pretty good volleyball.
Last week they defeated Gunnison and Manti in three sets each.
This week Emery is home Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The scores against Gunnison were 25-15, 25-23 and 25-16. The Manti scores were 25-20, 25-10 and 25-16.
Emery plays two seniors, two juniors and three sophomores.
The seniors are Kabri Butler and Michaela Wolford, the juniors are RyLee Jones and Sam Morgan and the sophomores are Shyler Griffin, Bailey Huggard and Megan Jensen. Emery has two other juniors, Brooklyn Olsen and Morgann Donaldson, on the team plus seven other sophomores and eight freshmen.
Looking at the stats from the Manti game shows that Griffin and Jones lead the team in assists while Huggard and Jensen lead the team in kills as the two tall Spartans are dominating at the net.
