The second annual Joe’s Valley Bouldering festival is now in the books and organizers are starting to plan for next year. Boulders began to gather in the park in Castle Dale. They held a bonfire each night with movies and dinner in the park. Food Ranch brought doughnuts one morning. R Pizza supplied the climbers with plenty of pizza to keep their strength up while climbing.
Ungerman’s Meats held a jerky making seminar. The history of bouldering in Emery County was presented by Steven Jeffery. Neal Peacock presented the history of Emery County.
Climbs were held throughout the weekend and climbers games were held. A rodeo was held where the boulderers chased chickens and rode steers and learned about the way cowboys have fun.
A yoga in the Orangeville park was also presented.
More than 150 climbers spent the weekend in the county participating in the activities associated with the festival. Climbers camped in the Castle Dale park and also on site among the boulders in Straight and Cottonwood canyons. Climbers also made use of local motels and the bed and breakfasts.
