Local scouts present the flag at the commission meeting. |
Emery County Scouts are getting ready for their annual “Scouting for Food Drive.”
Each cub scout troop will be involved in taking the bags out to area residents and the boy scouts will go around and pick up the food bags.
Each troop is setting their own schedule for this activity so watch for your bag or contact your local scouters to find out the schedule for your neighborhood.
This annual event raises needed food items for food banks, abuse shelters, food pantries, homeless shelters and other needy groups and organizations.
The food collected within Emery County will go to the Emery County Food Bank for local distribution. Scouts from Troop 329 in Castle Dale were present at the Emery County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday to present a flag ceremony and increase awareness for the food drive.
The commissioners declared March 29 as Scouting for Food day in the county and encouraged all residents to generously contribute to the food drive when the scouts arrive at your door.
