Clawson Days began at 8 a.m. on July 5 with a flag ceremony presented by the Blue Hills Ward Scouts. The Clawson Town Council followed at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast for the residents.
At 10 a.m., the residents gathered for the parade which began on Clawson Main Street and proceeded to the park where there was story telling and visiting.
At 1 p.m., there were games for the youth and many prizes were awarded. Following the games, Jerry Hatch started the auction at 3 p.m. Many items including, tools, hoses, dutch oven, knives, blankets, crafts and luggage were auctioned.
Following the auction a pie eating contest was held. When the whip cream had finished flying, Carl Nelson was the winner of the contest. For the youngsters, there were several cakes for the cake walk.
There was a horseshoe pitching contest where Glade and Jim Nelson were the winners. Also, there was a clay pigeon shoot. Dinner followed the days activities as the town council served up barbecue beef and everyone brought pot luck dishes. For after dinner entertainment, Lacee Murdoch sang to the crowd.
