The MECCA bike club has been involved in a number of rides so far this summer and have plans in the works for more. The club recently sponsored the Heritage Days Bike Ride in Huntington in conjunction with their July 4 celebration. The winner of the mountain bike on July 3 was Landon Fairbanks.
The club will present a ride in conjunction with the Cleveland Days celebration which begins this week. On July 22 at 6 p.m. riders will meet at the Cleveland Park Pavilion and rides will be held for participants of all ages.
The Emery County Fair ride will be Aug. 2 and registration will be at the Huntington State Park at 8 a.m. Steve Barton will provide more information on this ride at 381-2510 or evenings at 653-2500.
On Aug. 23, the club is sponsoring a ride to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The ride will begin in Emery and end in Cleveland. Information can be obtained about this ride and donation forms are available at the local libraries. The club is calling this ride against cancer the Tour De’Emery. The bike riders will ride with stickers on their shirts in memory of a loved one with cancer or someone who has lost their fight with cancer. These stickers can be purchased for a small donation. Contact any MECCA bike member for more information.
