SPLINTERS OF A NATION

Emery County Historical Society
Invites you to join us for
SPLINTERS OF A NATION
We are excited to welcome back Allan Kent Powell, author and historian, who is Utah’s foremost expert on the subject of German POWs. Kent will show a DVD Thursday evening that recounts the experiences of German prisoners of war in Utah, describes their interaction with local residents, and examines an incident at the Salina Camp in 1945. On Friday, we will travel to Salina to visit the Museum CCC/POW Camp site, visit the Salina Hospital and eat lunch at Mom’s Café where we will meet Virginia and learn some local history. (You may bring a sack lunch if you prefer.) After lunch, we will visit Miss Mary’s Museum, built in the 1880s. For those who can travel with us on Friday, please RSVP via email or during the meeting on Thursday.
