Bert Jensen
1946 – 2017
Redmond, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Bert Ted Jensen, 70, passed away Sunday, June 11, in Salt Lake City Utah after a hard fought courageous battle. Bert was born on July 7, 1946 in Salina, Utah to Charles Lester and Eda Christina Peterson Jensen. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sandra Sue Gurr on June 6, 1964. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple,  July 1, 1967.
Bert enjoyed many things in life. He collected vintage model cars and historical books. He loved to fish and deer hunt with his sons and grandsons. He was an avid fan of BYU sports and the Utah Jazz. He loved to travel with his family especially to Disneyland where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014 with their children and grandchildren. Most of all he LOVED to play and spend time with his grandchildren.
Bert was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Bert attended North Sevier High School, class of 1964 where he played on the basketball team and only broke out his dancing shoes for his Sandra Sue at the junior prom. He then attended Snow College where he enjoyed nickel root beers and bowling with his buddies, and later Southern Utah State College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.
Bert taught math at West Lake Junior High for 13 years then he moved back to his hometown to be closer to his parents and in-laws in Redmond, Utah. After returning home he then taught at Emery School District, San Rafael Junior High in Ferron, teaching math for 17 years. Bert enjoyed teaching and touching the hearts of many of his students with his math genius and abilities. He was honored and received as math teacher of the month and the year. Bert LOVED to teach.
After he retired from teaching Bert worked as a Correctional Officer in Gunnison, Utah for nine years. He created many friendships and memories with the people he worked with.  Bert was an extremely hard worker.
He was raised in Redmond as a true Redmond Mud Duck. Running in the fields and swimming in the river with his Redmondite buddies. A smile on his face and a slingshot by his side. Nights were filled with fun games playing on the cement block after twilight. He looked forward to family reunions with the Gurrs and the Jensens. The light of his life was his sweetheart of 53 years, his six children, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His proudest accomplishment was his posterity.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jensen, Redmond; his children Brenda Kaye (Clayton) Carter, Wendover, Nev; Kendra Sue (Richard) Pettit, Richfield; Brett Ted Jensen, Salt Lake City; Brian Lester (Charloe) Jensen, Annabella; Kraig Bert (Karen) Jensen, Salina; Starlyn Jensen, Redmond.
