Green River receives funds for natural gas feasibility study

Price City was awarded more than $1 million for local projects and Green River City will receive funding for the natural gas study
Price City will receive more than $1 million in funding for a cemetery expansion and water and sewer improvements. In the June 1 meeting held in Duchesne, the Community Impact Board voted to fund both projects.
The cemetery expansion project includes the addition of almost 1,800 burial plots, roads and walkways, a restroom building and more. The Community Impact Board approved a $450,000 low-interest loan to support the project. The water and sewer project focuses on upgrading water and sewer lines on 100 South between 300 East and 700, in addition to improvements to the road, curbs and fire hydrants. The board approved funding of $600,000, half grant and half loan.
“Funding from the Community Impact Board allows our rural Utah communities to meet the needs of their residents and continue to thrive,” said San Juan County Commissioner Bruce Adams.
At the June meeting, the board also approved a $45,000 grant to Green River City for a feasibility study to determine the infrastructure needs and costs of a natural gas pipeline system. This is in addition to a $75,000 Economic Development Administration grant already procured by the City.
The Community Impact Board awards grants and low-interest loans to cities, towns and counties impacted by mining and the extraction of oil and gas on federal land. Projects funded by the Community Impact Board benefit rural Utah by creating safer, more livable communities.
