After defeating Duchesne in the first round of the Utah State 2-A softball tournament by the score of 10-8, the Lady Spartans then faced a pre-tournament favorite in Enterprise and lost their first game of the day by the score of 12-5. Emery closed out Thursday by losing to South Sevier 7-2 and were eliminated from the tournament.
South Summit concluded their season by winning their 24th game of the season as they defeated Beaver for the 2-A title on Saturday in Spanish Fork. The Spanish Fork complex hosted all the games this year.  Beaver had defeated Manti earlier in the day to reach the championship game. South Summit won the game 9-1.
The Spartans finished the season with fifteen wins and should have their entire team back next season. This season’s team consisted of seven juniors, nine sophomores and five freshmen. Their four best pitchers were two sophomores and two freshmen.
In the game they won, Emery had to score two runs in the top of the eighth inning to get the win. Emery had fourteen base hits compared to ten for the Eagles. Madyson Alton had a triple and Addy Healy, Morgann Donaldson and Bailey Huggard each had a double. Healy also had two singles in the game while Ambree Bennett had three singles, Carlie Robinson had two singles and Alton, Jayla Weston and Regan Rasmussen each had a single. Huggard pitched the team to the win.
