ViAnn Niebergall

FERRON – ViAnn Bate Niebergall, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2017. She was born in Brigham City, Utah on Dec. 30, 1935 to Fae Innis Bateman and Deloy John Bate. She married John Frederick Niebergall in the Logan, Utah temple on Sept. 19, 1956.
ViAnn grew up in Perry, Utah. Later she moved to Preston, Idaho and then to Logan, Utah where she graduated from high school and attended USU. It was there that she met John Niebergall and they were married for 60 years. She raised four sons as they moved from Travis AFB Calif., to Panguitch and Cedar City, Utah, Malad and Mountain Home, Idaho, Juneau, Alaska and then settled in Ferron, Utah where they have lived for 46 years. She loved her small community and made many friends there.
ViAnn loved life! She loved doing things with her family, especially with John. They traveled to many places together and enjoyed taking rides together. Her favorite place to visit was Hawaii and she could listen to Hawaiian music all day. Some of her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to watch them play and took great joy in watching them grow. She loved music, played the piano, and sang in many choirs. ViAnn was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She also liked to create scrapbooks and eat butterscotch ice cream.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She had a tremendous testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many callings including; Primary teacher and pianist, ward chorister and Relief Society President. She and John served together on a service mission to the tri-Stake Cannery in Castle Dale and were temple workers in the Manti Temple. Her life was spent in the service of her family, friends, and neighbors. She was truly a selfless soul, always putting others first. Her tenderness will be greatly missed but her influence on our lives will never end.
She is survived by her husband, John, of Ferron and sons Bryan (Linda) of Murray, Utah, Karl (Nanette) of Roosevelt, Utah, Kirk (Shiela) Perry, Utah, Steven (Lesli) of Pleasant View, Utah, 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fae and DJ Bate and her sister, Lei Nani Jamieson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Ferron Millsite Ward chapel. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and at the Millsite Ward chapel an hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at the Ferron City Cemetery entrusted to Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of ViAnn at www.fausettmortuary.com.
