Emery Town council

The Emery Town council held their monthly meeting on March 8. Jo Sansevero from the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 42 approached the council requesting donations for girls to attend girls state. The girls receive donations as well as earn their own money to attend girls state. The council approved a donation of $100 for each Emery girl attending girls state.
The council discussed the Emery days celebration. The grand marshals will need to be selected soon. There will be a contest to see who comes up with the best theme. A suggestion box will be placed at the library for ideas. The winner will receive a prize.
The council updated their CIB wish list. Water monitoring equipment will be placed as high priority and park improvements will have medium priority.
Councilman Patrick Sundstrom reported someone had put coals in the dumpster. The city will put a notice in the newsletter. A sign will be placed at the dumpster concerning things that are not allowed to be put in the dumpster.
Councilwoman Corrine Dalton reported on the LEPC meeting. Should flooding occur sandbags are available at the sheriff’s office.
Tara Payne reported the county is still working on the ambulance service and trying to make it a special service district.
Councilman Varian Allen reported, he contacted the CVSSD to look at the drainage at the end of town. Councilman Allen will contact someone at the Emery church ward to see if they would be interested in taking care of a planter. The lunches at the senior center are in jeopardy because of lack of participation. A notice will be put in the town newletter. Emery is on the list for crack seal this year. The town will request bids for weed spraying services.
