Darland Heaps

Darland Woolsey Heaps passed away on Oct. 15, 2017 in Paonia, Colorado. He was born May 15, 1930 in Escalante, Utah to William Lester and Tyresha Ann (Leola) Woolsey Heaps.
He married Irene Ruth Marshall on Dec. 23, 1950 in Fredonia, Ariz. Marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on Feb. 14, 1952. Together they had six children. She preceded him in death in 1969. He later married Margaret Eleanor Grubbs Krstyen on Nov. 26, 1969 in Salina, Utah. Together they had 2 children (and 3 step children). She preceded him in death in 2007.
Darland served our country proudly as a member of the United States Army from March of 1951 until his honorable discharge in March of 1953.
Darland was a proud coal miner. He loved being outdoors and living on a farm. He was one to be up with the chickens with a cup of black coffee in his hand, watching over his livestock. Dar’s never-ending passion was his horses and horse racing.
He will be great missed.
He is survived by his children William Dar Heaps (Alesia), Darlene Heaps Cole, Phillip Marshall Heaps (Sherry), LaRene Heaps Jensen (Kevin), Leonard Ross Heaps, Wendy Irene Heaps, Marty Hayward Heaps (Melissa), Shon Lester Heaps (Denise), Gregory Krstyen (Marilyn), Jeffrey Krstyen (Marilou) and Johnny Krstyen (Ramona), great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, siblings Thelma Heaps Johnson (Royce), Thomas Heber Heaps (DelRita), Dixie Heaps Yowell (Ted) and William Larry Heaps (Judy).
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Lieutenant Junior Grade, William Garrett Heaps, his siblings Evan Heaps Schow (Ron), Marlin Lester Heaps, Millard James Heaps (Glenna) and Ann Heaps Dalebout (Pete).
Funeral services will be held at Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at 1 p.m. with a viewing from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery entrusted to Fausett Mortuary of Emery County.
