For the love of a pumpkin. An Orangeville couple has made the fall season and Halloween holiday a little brighter for area youngsters.
The Farnsworth family, Kelly and his wife Peggy grew a field of pumpkins this summer. The field was filled with the orange fruit but now the field has been picked clean.
Little pumpkin seekers of all sizes took the pumpkins home.
The Farnsworths donated all the pumpkins to local kids. The children could take a pumpkin off the table or search the field for a pumpkin of their choice.
Carli O’Neil a teacher from Cleveland Elementary was given enough pumpkins for all her students so they could use the pumpkins for a math activity.
Kelly said, “We’ve given away about 646 pumpkins in the past couple of weeks.”
The Farnsworths have enjoyed watching the children come to their field and chose a pumpkin. It has brought a smile to the face of the pumpkin finders as well as the pumpkin growers.
The pumpkins are now sitting on porches throughout the county and it’s a safe bet to think they will turn into Jack-O’lanterns as Halloween approaches.
All those who received a pumpkin want the Farnsworths to know how much they appreciate their donation and gift to the children of the county.
The Farnsworths are now, “Out of pumpkins we want to say thank you to everyone that came and took some home.
“It filled our hearts to donate and help so many people. And watching the excitement on the kids faces was priceless. Can’t wait to do it again next year,” said the Farnsworths.
Sharon Kirchner said, “Thank you Kelly and Peggy you guys are awesome thank you for the pumpkins.”
Chris James said, “That is so nice of the both of you for doing this. I’m sure you made a lot of children’s days. That’s awesome.”
Carmen Humphrey said, “You guys are awesome.”
Sharon Jones Mortensen said, “That is awesome… there sure aren’t many people like you two now days.”
Debbie Allred said, “I just want to thank Kelly and Peggy for the pumpkins. I had asked for four so each of the grandlittles could have one and I also was struggling on finding time to go get them. This is what I came home to today, pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins. You two are seriously the kindest, most thoughtful friends. Thank You.”
The Farnsworths can’t wait for winter to get here and get over with so they can begin planning their pumpkin crop for 2018.
