PRICE-Our beautiful, precious, loving mother, Zina LaReata Winder Fasselin Tabor, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 15, 2017.
She was born April 17, 1926 at Desert Lake, Emery County, Utah, to Charles William (Bill) Winder and Caroline Elizabeth Mills. She was the 10th of 14 children.
Zina married George Fasselin Sr., Jan. 11, 1943 in Price, Utah. After George’s death, she married Clifford Earl Tabor, July 10, 1948, in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, Sept. 24, 1983. Clifford died April 13, 1985.
Zina was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin. She will be remembered for her love of life and laughter and compassionate heart.
She took pride in her home, yard, gardens and flowers. She loved to sew, quilt, embroidery, crochet and sing. She enjoyed writing and reciting poetry and was passionate about genealogy research. She loved the great outdoors, her cabin in Scofield, picnics, horseback riding and snowmobiling.
She received her elementary schooling in Elmo and Cleveland, Utah and her high school diploma from Carbon High School. She went on to attend the College of Eastern Utah, majoring in business.
Zina was a member of the LDS church, filling many callings: Trekker Teacher, Co-Pilot Teacher, Primary Historian, Primary 2nd Counselor, Primary Secretary, MIA 2nd Counselor, Relief Society Visiting Teacher, Social Relations Leader, Compassionate Service Leader, Quilting Chairman, and Relief Society 2nd Counselor. She served a six month mission at the Manti LDS Temple in 1986.
Zina worked in the PTA, filling many offices, including President of the Price Junior High PTA. She was a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, serving as Captain of the Sarah Jane Powell Camp from May 1983 to May 1989.
She worked for the Carbon School Foods Service for 21 years at Durrant, Reeves and Price Elementary.
Survived by her children: George (Gloria) Fasselin; Elsie Reata (Kerry) Ware; Bonnie (Kevin) Axelgard; Chad (Debbie) Tabor; son-in-law, Jim Feichko; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Earl Tabor; her daughter, Caroline Fasselin Feichko; her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Graveside service, Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 5 p.m. at the Price Cemetery. The family welcomes friends to join them in the cemetery at 4:50 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Zina online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
