Lady Spartans continue to dominate opponents

For the Emery High Lady Spartans there were no surprises in last week’s games as the team easily raced to first-half leads in their two games of 44-7 and 45-13 after leading after the first quarter in the respective games by the scores of 24-6 and 20-3.
More of the same is expected this week as the regular season comes to a close. The final scores of the games were Emery 73 North Sanpete 16 and Emery 74 Manti 35. This week Emery will face Grand and San Juan to close out the season.
At home on Tuesday night Emery went to the free throw line just seven times, making five of those shots as the game was fairly foul free. Emery made eight three-pointers throughout the game in scoring their points.
The Toomer sisters led the way with Kinlee scoring 16 points and Kacelyn 15 points. Kinlee also had 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 2 steals in the game while Kacelyn had 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Megan Jensen scored 8 points and 10 rebounds, Lainee Jensen had 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals and the final starter Bailey Huggard scored 2 points and had 2 steals. Off the bench, Tayden Nielson scored 8 points, Hailey Jo Allred scored 6 points, Morgan Hurdsman scored 6 points, Bethany Justice scored 2 points as did Brileigh Curtis and Makieya Bertuzzi scored 1 point.
Against Manti Lainee was the leading scorer with 23 points as she hit five three-pointers, went three for three inside the line and made two of three at the line. Kacelyn scored 14 points as she made four three-pointers and made her lone two-point shot. Megan had 12 points to also finish in double figures. Also scoring for the team were Kinlee with 3 points, Bailey 5 points, Morgan 5 points, Tayden 8 points, Makieya 2 points and Brileigh 2 points.
In other individual stats, Bailey had 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots, Kacelyn had 3 steals, 2 assists and a blocked shot, Kinlee had 4 assists, Megan had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and 3 blocked shots and Lainee had 3 assists and 3 steals.
