On May 15, four students from Emery High School and their parents, traveled to the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City for the Governor’s Energy Summit to receive scholarship awards.
Each of the students, Dylan Williams, Drake Hoffman, Jaden Defa and Justin Guymon received scholarships from Chevron in the amount of $2,000 for the CTE department of Utah Energy Workforce Scholarships. Lt. Governor Cox was one of the keynote speakers at the presentation.
Under the direction of their advisors, Kevin Gordon and Diane Carter, the students had to submit an application, an essay, and create a video presentation.
They also participated in an interview with local energy business representatives from Caterpillar, Mac’s Mining, PacifiCorp, Guymon’s Machining, and Intermountain Electronics.
The group also had the opportunity to visit with Senator David Hinkins at the event. The students are pictured with Senator David Hinkins, and advisor Kevin Gordon onstage receiving their awards.
