Lotsa Motsa is operated by Rick and Robyn Simons. Rick was born in Mt. Pleasant and moved to Manti when he was small, about first grade. Robyn was born in Salt Lake City and moved to Manti when she was two weeks old. She grew up in Manti and surrounding areas.
Rick and Robyn went to school together and knew each other all through school. After high school, Robyn moved to Salt Lake City to go to college. During this time, Rick and Robyn’s sister became friends. Through their friendship, Rick and Robyn became better acquainted and started dating.
They were married March 1, 1997. They lived in the Provo area. Robyn was working in office management and Rick worked construction until they moved to Gunnison in the fall of 1999. Rick welded for his dad and Robyn ran the Lotsa Motsa in Gunnison.
It was always Rick’s dreamto own his own Lotsa Motsa. He was actually looking for a place in Price to open up, but nothing was available. As he was driving through Castle Dale on his way home, he saw the empty building at the East end of Main Street and said, “That’s it.”
They moved to Castle Dale and opened their own Lotsa Motsa. They’ve been here since March of 2000. They have brought jobs to the area. They are active in church and work with the youth in the ward. They love working with and feeding the youth. They love being a part of the community.
Robyn likes yoga, scrapbooking and reading. She said, “At first it was hard being so far from family, but it definitely feels like home now.”
Rick loves anything outdoors. He loves camping, the desert, mountain biking and golfing.
