Soccer was never part of our vocabulary until Troy came recruiting to the junior high. He told the boys that to make the soccer team all you had to do was to be able to run up and down the football field. Tayv said, “I can do that.” So tryouts was the first time Tayv tried soccer. Sad to say his mom hoped that because he had not played soccer before he wouldn’t be too disappointed when he got cut. After the third day of tryouts, Troy had to tell us that if Tayv didn’t have shin guards and cleats he couldn’t play anymore. Troy told Tayv that if he wanted to be a goalie he would be ensured a position on the team for as long as he played. Tayv said, I can do that.”
His baseball background has helped him be an awesome goalie. He has even commented that they are the same in that you have to get in front of the ball and stop it which he has done nearly 300 times in his career. He started playing goalie for varsity his sophomore year. He earned the max preps player of the week two years in a row. He has been an awesome goalie and in our humble opinion an asset to the team. The team has been an asset to him as well. His mom said to him one day. “Tayv, I didn’t know you liked to play soccer.” He replied I didn’t either.” We are so proud of you Tayv and the way you stepped up and handled the hard things in your life. We know that whatever comes next for you, you can do that.”

He is also on the student council and enjoys being involved in the activities. Sebastian wishes he didn’t have to grow up so he could spend his free time, eating, sleeping or playing video games.

He is a good example to all his friends and family. Jimmy is leaving to serve a mission in Thailand soon after graduation. He has been preparing for this for a long time and though will be missed by his family he is excited to start this new chapter of his life.
Parker Sermon is the son of Gabe and Sally Sermon. His grandparents are Debbie Sermon, Lois Littleford and Peggy Johns. Parker started playing soccer at the age of 4 and has loved it ever since. He has grown up playing and soccer has become a big part of our lives because of it.
He is the oldest of six children and has been a great example to his younger brothers and sisters who have followed his love for the game of soccer.
It has been rewarding seeing him grow physically, mentally and spiritually through the years. There have been many good experiences with soccer that have helped to shape him into the young man he is today.
He has a very bright future and we look forward to seeing what he ends up doing with his life. On behalf of Parker and the Sermon family we want to thank all the hours his coaches and teammates have put in and appreciate their time and effort. After graduating he will be serving a LDS mission in Ecuador and future plans include going to school in computer science. We love you Parker and we’re grateful to have you as a member of our family.
