The Emery High volleyball team held their annual Black and Gold scrimmage last week in preparation for the upcoming season.
The evening started off with the younger players divided into two teams and then ended with the varsity players split into two teams.
Both games were competitive and gave the players a different look rather than just practicing every day until the season begins.
The season will start with the team playing in a St. George tournament and then the team will return home to face Carbon High.
The region that Emery plays in is a very competitive volleyball league every season and this season should be no different.
Kris Bell returns as the head coach and Joni Edgehouse is the lone assistant coach this season.
Six seniors should see a lot of varsity action this season on a team that has a total of 25 players on varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. Standout seniors are Megan Jensen, Bailey Huggard, Shyler Griffin, Maddie Alton, Megan Dawes and Adri Childs.
The season will draw to a close two months from now, in the middle of October with the 3-A state championships being contested at Utah Valley University. All six state titles will be decided in the same week at the same location.
