County Super-Fix

Republican Fall Social


The Republican Fall Social will be held Sept. 24 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Social begins at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Speakers inlcude Gary Herbert, John Swallow’s campaign representative, Phil Peay and Drew Sitterud.

Plodder to Dance

Coed Volleyball Sign Ups

Historical Society


On Sept. 25, The Emery County Historical Society and the Museum of the San Rafael will host the Utah Rock Art Association in the Museum at 7 p.m. Layne Miller will be the guest speaker and will give a presentation on Utah Rock Art. The public is welcome to attend.

Ascension St. Matthew’s Church


The fall schedule for Ascension St. Matthew’s Church will be as follows: Sundays 9:30 a.m.-Sunday school for all ages; 10:30 a.m.-worship, followed by fellowship and refreshments with a potluck lunch on the first Sunday of each month. Oktoberfest


Notre Dame Church will once again present Oktoberfest for the community on Oct. 2. Food will be served from 11 a,.m.-7 p.m. Other activities will include a pastry booth, silent auction and raffles, grocery give away and games. Come and bring your family for a day of food, fun and games.

CEU Gallery East


College of Eastern Utah is opening its new 2004-2005 exhibition schedule with a printmaking exhibit titled “World Printmaking” which runs through Sept. 24. Gallery hours at 8:3- a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

IronHorse Raceway

Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, department service office, will be in the area to assist in understanding and applying for rightful benefits, on Sept. 16 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Bike the Swell


MECCA’s mountain bike festival will be held Sept. 24-26. The event is sponsored by Emery County Recreation. There will be three days of rides to enjoy the scenery of the Swell. Registration fee includes spaghetti dinner, continental breakfast, dutch oven dinner, T-shirt and entry into prize drawing. For more information call 653-2500 or 653-2440.

Project Wild


Project Wild Educator Training will be held at Huntington Elementary Oct. 15-16. These workshops are good for teachers, youth and scout leaders who want to teach students more about the environment and wildlife in a fun way. Defensive Driving Course


The Utah Safety Council is now offering a four hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on Sept. 18 at the Castleview Hospital classroom located at 300 North Hospital Drive, from 8 a.m.-noon. Survival Fair/Emergency Preparedness


“Are you prepared to survive?” Come to the survival fair and become educated with the latest information. The fair will be held Oct. 8 from 5-8 p.m. at Emery High School. There will be many booths with all types of survival information available.

Economic Summit


Emery County’s 2004 Economic Summit “What’s Swell in Emery County” will be held Sept. 14 at the County Office Building and museum in Castle Dale. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Pre-registration can be completed with Emery County Economic Development, 381-5576. Keynote address will be given by Jon Huntsman, Jr. and several breakout sessions will be held.

Memorial Fund Raiser


A fund raiser is being held for Cemetery Memorial Plaques for each of the cemeteries. Donations can be sent to PO Box 126, Cleveland, Utah 84518.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA coordinator at 435-381-5595.

Eyeglasses for Lions Club


The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lang at 687-5349.

Salvation Army


Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
