Floyd McKee
PRICE-Floyd McKee, 82, of Price, passed away Sept. 8, 2004. Born April 7, 1922, a son of Bert and Eliza May Sherman McKee. He married Reva Gordon Marshall McKee on June 26, 1955 in Salt Lake City.
Floyd is a member of the LDS Church. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and retired from Utah Power and Light in 1986. He enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam’s and prospecting.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, one son Kim (Laurie) McKee of Kemmerer, Wyo., three stepchildren Bob (Beth) Marshall of Huntington, Donna (Garth) Stokes of West Jordan, Pam (Tom) Brereton of Castle Dale, two sisters Velma Anderson of Carbonville and Hazel McMullin of Cleveland, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two grandsons Christopher Brereton and Robert June Marshall, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Mon. Sept. 13, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Spring Glen LDS Chapel. A viewing was held Sunday evening at Fausett Mortuary in Price. Interment in the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Patsy Gragg
PRICE – Patsy Lou Gragg, age 66, passed away Sept. 18, 2004 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Born Feb. 4, 1938 in Standardville, to Samuel Lee and Lenore Howard Gragg.
Patsy had a deep love for the Lord, a kind heart and was always concerned for the well-being of others. As a loving caregiver, she made sure that her family was well cared for. She loved animals and will be dearly missed by her family.
Survived by sisters, Vivian Lee Martin, La Habra, Calif.; Claudia Gragg, Price; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Damon and Gene Gragg; sisters, Gloria Jean and Dora May Ceal.
Graveside service Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m.
Kevin K. Conway
PRICE – Kevin K. Conway, 52, died at home in Kaysville, Sept. 8, 2004 after battling cancer for six years.
He was born Aug. 28, 1952 in Springfield, Ill., to Johnie and Roberta Conway. He married Karla Bergquist in Roosevelt, on Feb. 16, 1980.
Kevin grew up in Bath, Ill., moved to Logan in 1972 where he graduated from USU in game management. Kevin spent 30 years with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, starting as a conservation officer in the Roosevelt District. He moved to Carbon County in 1981 as the investigator, then became Lieutenant for the southeastern region. He took the Captains job in SLC in 1996, accepted the offer to Assistant Director in 1997 and in 2002 was appointed Division Director.
Kevin is survived by wife; daughters, Erin Kimberly and Karrie Ann; mother, Roberta, Bath, Ill.; brothers, Alan, Roosevelt; David, Bath, Ill.; and sister, Lynn Wright, Oxford, Iowa. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Mark; older sister, Ann; and father.
Funeral services will be Sat., Sept. 25, 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Roosevelt Memorial Park, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.

Jack Matekovic
SPRING GLEN-Jack Matekovic, age 75, passed away Sept. 15, 2004 at his home in Spring Glen.
He was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Spring Glen to Martin and Mary Vuksinick Matekovic. He was the 13th of 17 children.
Married Helen Drazich on June 26, 1954 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper.
Jack entered the coal mines at the age of 17 and retired as a mine inspector/supervisor with MSHA. He proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the Army. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus and participated in different church activities at St. Anthony’s. He loved to garden and always shared his fruit and vegetables with family, friends and neighbors. In years past, he liked to listen and dance to polkas and waltzes. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Muggsy.
Jack was loved greatly by his wife and family and will be dearly missed. We will miss his smile, his laugh, his wit, and his wisdom. We were truly blessed to have such a wonderful man in our lives. He will live on in each of us in his own special way.
Jack is survived by his wife Helen; son, Jack (Pam) Matekovic, Helper; daughters, Valerie Oaks, Las Vegas, Nev; Lisa (Paul) Richens, Price; three grandsons, J.K. Matekovic, Chad Oaks and Nathan Richens; three granddaughters, Katie Joe Matekovic, Jessica Oaks, and Ashley Richens; sisters, Kathryn (Andre) Semeteys, Martina Loveless, Betty (Don) LaRue, Nelly (Wayne) Lewis, Dorothy Diamanti, Barbara (Blair) Anderson, Vivian (John) Lewis and Charlene (Ted) Milovich; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, three brothers, Martin, Carlo and Bill; five sisters, Honora, Mary, Anne, Carolyn and Helen.
Funeral Mass was held Sept. 18 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service was Friday evening. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions to charity of your choice.
John Hudson
PRICE/SALT LAKE CITY – John C. Hudson, age 101, passed away peacefully on Sept. 18, 2004.
Born Aug. 22, 1903 in Denton, Texas to Wilson and Lela Lawler Hudson. He was the eldest of five children. Married Rula Mildred Howell Feb. 18, 1830, marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She passed away Aug. 27, 1991. Married Ivie G. Verner Dec. 21, 1991.
John retired from the telephone company with 38 years. He was a member of CWA, telephone pioneers and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.
The family wishes to thank Silverado Senior Living and Hearts for Hospice for their kindness and help. “Gone fishing.”
Survived by daughter, Janice (Mike) Wolf; daughter-in-law, Ethyl Hudson; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Cleo Doughty and Lela Morrison. Preceded in death by wife, Rula; sons, Clark and Daryl; and two brothers.

Bertha Carrillo
EAST CARBON – Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Bertha Duran Carrillo, age 72, passed away Sept. 19, 2004 peacefully and graciously at her life long occupational home of Castleview Hospital in Price after suffering a stroke.
Born Jan. 16, 1932 in Pagosa Springs, Colo., to Jose and Darita Rupert Duran. Married Thomas. G. Carrillo Feb. 25, 1947 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. They were married 37 years. He passed away May 13, 1984.
Graduate of Carbon College, College of Eastern Utah, and Weber State University in nursing. She always wanted to become a nurse and started her 47 year career of being a thoughtful and caring nurse with Carbon Hospital and later was instrumental in opening the Intensive Care Unit at Castleview Hospital, where she remained until her 1st retirement.
Bertha enjoyed her last years as a business owner of Tender Hearts Home Health in Moab and Price. Her final nursing status was as a registered nurse at the Heirloom Inn Residence in Price. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survived by children, Gloria Carrillo, West Valley; Mark (Alayne) Carrillo, Price; Leonard Carrillo, East Carbon; three grandchildren, Jennifer Ruiz, Breanne Ruiz, Zade Carrillo, one great-grandchild, Miranda Doporto; three sisters and one brother, Mary (Mike Zaccaria; Mabel (Tulou) Wolfgramm; Dolores (Manual) Lopez; Louis (Betty) Duran; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Thomas; and two sons, Juan and Thomas Jr.

Sarah Brinkerhoff
HUNTINGTON – Sarah Brinkerhoff, age 86, passed away Sept. 14, 2004 at her home in Huntington.
She was born April 4, 1918 in Standardville to Alma Asahel and Artemissia Burnett Scoville. She married James Afton Brinkerhoff Oct. 1, 1938 in Price. He passed away Dec. 24, 1977.
Sarah was a talented homemaker, sharing whatever she made with family and friends.
Sarah is survived by brothers, Alma Scovill of Green River; Claude Scovill of Orangeville; sisters, Helen Dunford of Cedar City; Emma Jean Chidester of Price; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 18 in the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Burial, Huntington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
