Fishing report for Southeastern Utah

By By

General: Most lakes and reservoirs are blanketed by snow, which insulates and can weaken ice.
Please observe ice fishing safety precautions, such as fishing with a buddy, wearing wool clothing, carrying a pair of ice picks, and bringing along a rope and floatation device.
Cleveland Reservoir: Cleveland-Huntington Irrigation Company will be taking water from the reservoir all winter long, making ice conditions unstable and very hazardous. The DWR urges all winter recreationalists to stay off the reservoir.
Huntington Reservoir: (on the Wasatch Plateau, Sanpete County) Fishing has been slow.
Joe’s Valley Reservoir: Joe’s Valley Reservoir reopens for fishing on Dec. 11. Emery Water Conservancy District prohibits the use of snow machines or ATVs on the ice.
Lake Powell: The Lake Powell fishing report home page is: http://www.wayneswords.com.
Lower Fish Creek: Outflow from Scofield Reservoir has increased. The creek is icy, but fishable.
Scofield Reservoir: Fisheries technician, Mike Ault, will be conducting creel surveys at the reservoir all winter long. He reports that fishing success is better in the afternoon.
Most anglers have been using small jigs or ice flies, tipped with meal worms or a piece of nightcrawler. Rainbow trout range from 12-18 inches with an average of 14.5 inches.
