Combined Class Reunion
The graduating classes of ’67, ’68, ’69, ’70 and ’71 will meet Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Emery High School Lunchroom. Those attending are asked to bring a treat to share or a small fee. Come early and enjoy the Emery County Fair Parade and other activities at the Fair Grounds. Help spread the word. Questions, call Jay Frandsen at 381-2794.
Star Gazing in Huntington Canyon
On June 18, at Huntington Reservoir on the Energy Loop in Huntington Canyon, beginning at 8:30 p.m., Don Burge will speak about the stars. Bring binoculars or telescope, a chair and a jacket. This event is sponsored by the Castle Country Travel Region and it is free. Watch for signs at the top of the canyon.
Safe Kids Education
Free child safety and drowning education will be held at Huntington State Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on June 19. This is sponsored by Carbon/Emery Safe Kids and Utah State Parks and Recreation. There will be a drawing for two personal floatation devices.
Emery County Fair-Building Bridges
This years Emery County Fair will include many fun demonstrations. A schedule will be posted on the outside of the fair building as well as at each demonstration area with the topic and time. Some of the fun things that will be a part of this events are: scrapbooking classes all day; classes in family history; the internet and genealogy; cooking classes, a quilt block demonstration; fly-tying; sculpture; watercolors; digital camera operation; and pottery. These and many more will be demonstrated during the four day fair. If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see or would like to see demonstrated, call Bernice at 653-2212.
Orangeville City Day
Orangeville City Day will be held June 19. Festivities will begin with breakfast in the park at 7 p.m., and continue all day with a parade at 10 a.m., games, musical entertainment, famous Humphrey brothers lamb fry, raffle and fireworks.
IronHorse Raceway
On June 19, Whose Yo Daddy racing will begin at 10 a.m. in honor of Father’s Day. Pee wee races also.
DROPS
DROPS will be held June 22 at the Fairgrounds, 500 East 100 South, Castle Dale. Sign up begins at noon. We are not responsible for late truck deliveries nor the quality/quantity of food offered.
Memorial Plaque Fund Raiser
A fund raiser is being held for Cemetery Memorial Plaques for each of the cemeteries. Donations can be sent to PO Box 126, Cleveland, Utah 84518.
Historical Society/Fund Raiser
Everyone is welcome to attend Emery County Historical Society’s June meeting, which will be a spaghetti dinner fund raiser on June 24 at 6 p.m. at the Castle Dale park pavilion. Cost will be affordable. Donations of more will be accepted. Funds will help planned projects proceed. Society members, please bring a dessert to share. Call Bert Oman, Mervin Miles or Kathleen Rowley. There will be a guest speaker, musical group and a recognition and presentation to Eva Conover, Ferron resident and author, who was the first president of the original Castle Valley Historical Society.
Old Cell Phones Needed
Donate old cell phones to the Relay for Life for a fundraiser. Bring them by the EC Progress Office at 410 East Main in Castle Dale or bring to the Relay.
