On March 20 Emery County Republicans and Democrats met in their county caucus meetings. This begins the political party season which will culminate on Nov. 6 election night.
At the caucus meetings delegates were chosen to vote in the county conventions. State delegates were also chosen to represent Emery County at the state conventions of each political party.
At the Democratic caucus all present were elected to be county delegates to the Emery Democrat County Convention. This convention will be held on April 11 at 6 p.m. in the Canyon Room at the old courthouse 75 East Main in Castle Dale.
Speakers will include: Jenny Wilson the Candidate for US Senator, David Blackwell the Candidate for County Attorney and John Barnett Candidate for County Sheriff will be there to speak to the Democratic Convention.
The Republican Convention will be coming up April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntington Elementary. There will be candidates there for state office and for the county offices.
The delegates elected at the caucus nights will vote for the county delegates. State delegates will attend the state convention where they will cast their votes for the state candidates and federal office candidates.
Every candidate will advance to the primary on June 26, if a county candidate receives more than 60 percent of the vote at the county convention that candidate will move forward as the official party candidate.
