Green River to host economic development summit

The Green River Chamber of Commerce is busy planning the first annual Green River Economic Development Summit to be held on Feb. 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum. The summit will begin at 10 a.m. with introductions and a welcome. Five breakout sessions will occur throughout the day with round one from 10:40-11:30 and round two from 11:40-12:30 p.m. A 30 minute lunch break will be from 12:30-1 p.m. The third round will be from 1-1:50 p.m. , the fourth round from 2-2:50 p.m., and the fifth and final round will be from 3-4 p.m.
The round segments will focus on the following areas: SWOT analysis- strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; identify assets and liabilities; and reality check.
Branding: who do we want to be; how do others perceive us; developing destination activities; successful community, political and business buy-in.
Marketing: where do we start; what are the best venues; where can we get funding.
Education: develop our own Superhost training; improve access for employee job training; employer management seminars.
The finalized plan: develop goals, actions and implementation; develop plan outline, timeline, and responsible parties.
The chamber is open to any other ideas and suggestions for topics to be discussed at the summit. Everyone is welcome to attend and the registration fee is $10. You may signup at the door or in advance by contacting the chamber at 564-3490.
