Cathy Gardner accepted the award for the business of the year from Green River for Ray’s Tavern. She said Ray’s has been in operation since 1943 and she is the third owner. “Ray’s Tavern has seen every boom and every bust in the area, from the interstate going in to the drought and the water being down at Lake Powell and on the Green River. We appreciate the support of the people in Green River and the people in the county who always stop in when they are in Green River for a meeting”said Gardner. Gardner believes the strength of the county comes from its businesses.
Ray’s Tavern serves a world famous jumbo hamburger and Ray’s has been featured in magazines across the United States. They also have unique wall decor with T-shirts from around the world dotting the walls. Gardner credits her friendly staff with bringing back customers for repeat visits to Ray’s. The menu also features a veggie burger and Gardner believes you need to change with the times and stay in tune with what the customers want.
