The Lady Pirates were hosting the team from Whitehorse, looking for revenge for an earlier 6-point loss on the road, on Jan. 28, but instead of a win and a share of the region lead, they suffered a14-point loss at home.
After leading at the half by a score of 24-21 and by a score of 38-37 after three periods, the Pirates were shut down in the final period as Whitehorse outscored the home team by 15 in the fourth quarter.
Leading scorer for the season with a 16.64 average Adriana Cordova was held to only 9 points. Leading scorer in the game was Heidi Vetere with 17 points. Heidi averages 12.43 points for the season.
Also scoring were Ciji Vetere and Whitney Bigelow with 8 points each and Charley Vetere with 2 points.
The Lady Pirates have a 13-4 season record and are 5-2 in region play. The girls played East Carbon on Thursday and came away with a victory and also defeated Navajo Mountain on Friday night. They defeated both teams earlier in the season also, East Carbon by 27 points and Navajo Mountain by 30 points.
The Lady Pirates now head into the region tournament which will be held on Feb. 10-12 at the Spartan Center. They will play against Manila on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.
