The Pro Rehab Physical Therapy and Fitness Center opened in January in Castle Dale at 150 East Main. Scott Labrum is the physical therapist and he also works with a team of therapists to bring high quality care to the residents of Emery and Carbon counties.
Labrum has been in the area for seven years. He is a Logan native who attended college at Snow College, where he also played football. He attended Utah State and when he finished in 1991 he did his graduate work at the University of Iowa and completed his masters degree. Labrum said, “We always planned on coming back to the west, but an opportunity at the Illinois sports medicine center which specialized in orthopedic sports medicine opened up so we stayed for a three year residency. During this time I also did my post graduate work in spinal rehabilitation.
“In November of 1997 we moved back closer to home. We lived in Orangeville for two years and now we live in Castle Dale. My wife Mindi and I have four children, Jessica, 13, Spencer 10, Cassidy, 8 and Cory Logan, 6.
“I worked in Price until they opened the new Emery Medical Center in Castle Dale. I was there the first day they opened the new place.
“We are partnering with Pro Rehab from Price which has been in private practice for four years. We are excited about the expansion into Emery County. We also partner with local nursing homes to provide care to their patients. We work with home health, Rocky Mountain and Horizon Home Health. We offer therapy services at the Emery County Care and Rehab, Parkdale and Castle Country.

“My partners are Darrin Hurdsman, Mike Gagon, and Jeff Ohlwiler. We offer a full range of outpatient orthopedic services. One of the benefits of living in a rural community is that we treat everything that comes through our office. Even though we live in small communities we do not have to settle for inferior care. We want people to know that we are serious about our commitment to the care of our Emery County patients and we plan on being here for a long time.
“We are also excited about our wellness center. Our hours are 5 a.m.-8 p.m. Mon.-Fri. You can buy memberships by the month or by the year for families or individuals. We have a personal trainer, Nathan Johansen who will work with you on a personal fitness plan. We have a full range of strength training machines and treadmills. We have bicycles, upper arm bikes and a room dedicated to free weights. We also have a hip sled and hack squat machine.
“We want people to know that they can choose their physical therapist and decide where they want to go on their own for their physical therapy. We hope they will choose our facility because it’s close to home and we work around schedules and put you the customer in charge of your care.
“We want everyone to come in and check out our new facility, we are excited to be here. We are active in our community and we care about what happens here. I am involved in the local sports programs and also do radio broadcasts for the Emery Spartans. We want people to know we have made an investment in our community and we hope for the support of the community. The response so far has been very favorable. People are anxious to have a nice place to work out and we hope to provide that.
“The large open room has big windows which create an inviting and energizing atmosphere.
“Plans are being made for an open house on March 10 so the public can come in and see the facility. Our contractor, has done a marvelous job with this older building. We will also have a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Emery County Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.,” said Labrum.
