Emery Telcom helps organize blood drive
Emery Telcom recently joined the American Red Cross to successfully organize a blood drive that collected 29 units of blood.
“This is something that I believe is very important,” said Marie Vanderherp, an Emery Telcom employee who donated blood. “The 15 minutes I spent to give blood may someday save the life of a family member, friend or neighbor.”
Thirty employees and community members took time out of their busy day to donate blood at the Emery Telcom Orangeville office. Together they were able to meet the goal set by the American Red Cross.
Despite being scheduled during the holiday week, and heavy snowfall on the day of the blood drive, donors remained enthusiastic throughout the day.
“It’s great companies and communities like this that makes our blood donors programs so successful,” said Karen Tribett, the American Red Cross. “We supply approximately 400 pints daily to more than 45 hospitals. We could not meet this great challenge without such support.”
Last year, the Emery Telcom held the drive at the Carbon County location and raised 25 units.
“The volunteer effort to collect enough blood for those in need, exemplifies the quality of our employees and their devotion to the communities we serve,” said Greg Killpack, CEO and general manager of Emery Telcom
