Dave Justice gets ready to run for Emery. |
The Emery Spartans will host the Region 8 track meet Wed. May 6 in Castle Dale starting at 9:30am. The Spartans have already hosted two other track meets in anticipation of their best season for several years.
When you think of girls track at Emery, now you think of Camille Fehlberg. Camille, a sophomore from Huntington, has already qualified for the state meet in the 100 meter hurdles, the 300 meter hurdles, the 200 meter run, the 400 meter run and the long jump. Unfortunately, she can only compete in four events besides relays at state and will have to drop her worst event.
On the boy’s side at Emery, you think of Bruce Clement, last year’s state champ in the discus. Bruce has qualified in the discus and the shot put and should qualify in the javelin. Also qualifying from Emery are Tate Jensen in the long jump and Travis Bunderson in the high jump.
At the BYU Invitational last Saturday, Bunderson finished fourth in the high jump, Zak Clement finished fourth in javelin with Bruce finishing seventh and Camille finished fifth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the 100 hurdles. This meet combines 3-A, 4-A and 5-A in one single meet.
