The second annual Canyon River Runners Art show will be held at the John Wesley Powell River Museum from June 1-30. The show is sponsored by Joseph S. Venus, internationally known artist and director of the River Art Gallery in the museum, and the John Wesley Powell Museum Board. Work of artists from ages 8-100 will be shown.
The theme of the show is original paintings, all media and sculptures of river runners, landscapes, wildlife and outdoor activities related to canyon areas, historical and present time. No photography will be shown.
An artists reception will be held on June 4. The judges will be present and cash awards and ribbons will be given. refreshments will be served. The public is encouraged to attend. A silent auction will also be held that day in the museum from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. On June 4, some of the participating artists will be setting up on the grounds of the museum and the banks of the Green River, so that the public can watch them at work. John Wesley Powell Days is June 17-18. A talent show will be June 17 at 7 p.m. in the theatre at the museum and June 18 at 8 a.m. will be a breakfast sponsored by Close-Up at 9 a.m., games, and at 5 p.m., a weiner roast in the park, and at 7 p.m. a western band in the theater.
