Hal Schiffner from Rising Sun quarterhorses spoke of their move from Southern California to Castle Dale. “We purchased a ranch here last year. We became acquainted with the area through Jon Judd and his wife, Cindy. We purchased the ranch last year and made the move from Southern California. We offer a full service breeding and training horse facility. Joan Brown is the English trainer, my wife April works with the breeding end of the business and I do the western training.
“We’ve been asked the questions many times of why we moved here. We travel about 30 weekends each year to horse shows and we’re centrally located here and can be back to Southern California in 10 hours if we need to. The community here has just been great. We want to help the local kids with 4-H activities. Horses are our business and we’re not moving again so get used to us,” said Schiffner.
