Cleveland Town’s new playground was officially opened this past weekend. The park expansion has been an ongoing project over the past two years. With grants from the Permanent Community Impact Board, Community Development Block Grant and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, the town was able to purchase the property to expand the park and install new sprinklers in the existing park.
They were also able to build a new concession building that is available to rent for parties and family reunions. A parking lot was also added to allow parking away from Main Street.
The final addition was the new playground equipment, dinosaurs, a fire truck, train, climbing wall, swings and slides and more.
Savage Industries and KFJ Trucking donated heavy equipment for the ground work that was done this spring.
The Cleveland Town employees are happy to see the equipment installed and available for the kids to play on.
Grass will be planted in the spring along with some additional fencing.
The town recently received a tree planting grant which will allow new trees to be planted in the spring also.
The park will be a welcome addition to the city and the added space will be helpful when the town has its annual 24th of July celebration. The project has been a real community effort to improve the town.
