Day one of the Emery County fair is on Wed., Aug. 3. The fair will begin with a big, giant, yard sale. Fair organizers are encouraging everyone to bring items to sell at this event. You will need to bring your own tables.
The event will take place at the city park behind the old courthouse in Castle Dale. The streets will be blocked off and everyone will set their wares up in the street. The yard sale will run from 4 p.m. to dark.
The Museum of the San Rafael will be holding their San Rafael Folk Art Festival and entertainment will be ongoing at the museum.
Another highlight of the first day will be a free pig dinner. This will begin at 5 p.m. and run until the food is gone. The menu will include roast pig, gently pulled from the bones by master chefs. Potatoes, baked beans, rolls and dessert will complete the free feed. The pig is slow cooked in a smokehouse to lock in the flavor and it promises to be the most tender meat you’ve ever eaten.
Make plans to attend the first day of the fair and maybe go through your treasures to see what you can part with to sell at the giant yard sale. You don’t need to call to preregister for a spot at the yard sale, but if you’d like more information call the recreation district at 381-2108.
