Betty Roundy Olsen
WEST JORDAN/ELMO-Our loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Betty Roundy Olsen, peacefully passed away Feb. 24, 2005 in West Jordan. She was born May 29, 1929 in Scofield to Leonard and Sally Roundy. She was raised in Spring Glen. She graduated from Carbon High School and played clarinet in the high school band. She married John H. Olsen on June 18, 1948, and began residing in West Jordan.
Betty worked at Nick and Sam’s, later to become Michael’s Food Mart for several years in West Jordan. She moved to Elmo in 1986. She loved the outdoors, loved to fish, boat, and water ski, and took up snow skiing at the age of 50. She especially loved her family, spending time at Scofield, was a wonderful cook and loved to shop. She was a member of the Lily of the Valley D.U.P. Camp and served as captain for two years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught primary for many years and was a faithful visiting teacher and loved all she had the opportunity to come in contact with.
Survived by one son and three daughters, Larry R. Olsen of South Jordan, Kathy (George) Hotchkiss of Kearns, Janice Olsen of Florida, and Linda (Cesar) Cabrales of South Jordan; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Doreen (Jay) Donohue of Texas and Gary (Loretta) Roundy of Elsinore; one sister-in-law Mary Burnside of Kearns and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held Feb. 28, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Elmo LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing was held the previous evening and one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Stephen William Rhoten, Jr.
HUNTINGTON-Stephen William Rhoten, Jr. died Feb. 20, 2005. He was born June 14, 1947.
Served in Germany during the Berlin Wall conflict. He was a gold prospector and all around mountain man. He loved to fish and hunt, and his family above everything else. He will be missed greatly, until we all meet again. In the Halls of Vahalla.
Survived by children, Shauna Turner, Stephen Rhoten III; sibleings, Michael Lee Rhoten, Joni McNeil, James D. Rhoten and Jon Rhoten.
Funeral services were Feb. 25, Huntington City Cemetery. The Rhoten family wishes to express sincere appreciation for those who have shown love and acts of kindness during the loss of their loved one.
Lewis Flemett
Lewis Flemett, age 79, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his death he was being cared for by his son David and his wife. He was born May 16, 1925 in Castle Gate, to Nick and Mamie Vera Vaughan Flemett.
Married Maria Jaramillo on May 10, 1953, later divorced.
He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County, where he worked for the D&RGW Railroad and UDOT. Served in the US Army. Lewis enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, walking, doing crossword puzzles and drawing.
Survived by three children, Viviette and Manuel Samudio, Price; David and Karen Flemett, Timothy and Dottie Flemett, both of Spring Glen; grandchildren, Manuel, Maria, Jessica, Victoria, Shelby, Eric and Nicolas; great grandchildren, TJ, Tyler, Kayden, Jayden, Gabriel and Emma; and anticipating the birth of two more great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents and siblings.
He will be dearly missed. His special bond with his son David was that of a father and son; they were best of friends. He had many friends throughout the community. Special thanks to Rick and his caring staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice. With their help the family was able to make Lewis comfortable and well cared for in his last few weeks of life and help them prepare for his passing. The family is truly grateful.
Funeral service, Wed. March 2, 2005 at 1 p.m., Liberty Faith Fellowship, 1630 North 1500 West, Carbonville. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment in the Price City Cemetery.
Herb Cave
LAWRENCE-James Herbert Cave, age 75, died Feb. 25, 2005 at his home. Born in Sego, Utah on Jan. 14, 1930 to Franklin and Birtie Stone Cave.
Herb served in the Army from 1947-1953 as a staff sergeant and was in the 131st Airborne Division. He served in the end of World War II and in the Korean Conflict. His grandson, Nicholas Hunsaker, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Utah Army National Guard and his granddaughter is also serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in the Army National Guard in American Fork.
Married Vieon Darlene Morrison on Nov. 6, 1950 in Colorado Springs, Colo. while stationed at Camp Carson. She preceded him in death in January 1978.
His life partner and last love of life was Dima Jensen Wilson-Hurt.
Herb worked in construction and was an inspector for Housing and Urban Development. He loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. When he was younger, he played the guitar, sang and loved to get together with family.

Preceded in death by wife Darlene; grandchildren, Jeffrey Mast, Rhiannon Cave, Jody Alger, Mckell Crabtree, Brennan Baker, and Tyler Adams; brothers Robert and Orville Cave; sisters Mildred Marvidikis, Francis Bader, and Betty Ruth Rowden.
Graveside service, March 1, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Huntington City Cemetery. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 Main Street in Price, and Tuesday from noon-1:30 p.m.
Lee McMullin
CLEVELAND-Lee McMullin passed away Thurs. Feb. 24, 2005, in the Price Hospital due to complications following surgery. He was born Jan. 21, 1925, to George Douglas and Luella Gordon McMullin in Morhland, Emery County, Utah. He married Hazel Ruth McKee in Cleveland on Aug. 23, 1946. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on April 24, 1964.
Lee served in the Army Infantry during World War II in the Pacific. He was a jack-of-all-trades and did many things in his life. He was a barber, TV sales and repairman, heavy equipment operator, diesel mechanic, storeowner, coal miner, stokermatic dealer and farmer. But his most important accomplishments were with his wife and family. He was a member of the LDS Church, the American Legion and served on many boards in various county businesses.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of almost 59 years. Children: Bernice (Val) Payne, Mark (Maggie) McMullin, Bruce (Sherrie) McMullin and Annette (Kevin) Jensen, all of Cleveland; sister Erma Lou (Duane) Jones, 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one grandson, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Mon. Feb. 28, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Cleveland LDS Chapel. A viewing was held the previous evening and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial was in the Cleveland City Cemetery.
Dennis A. Mortensen
ELMO- Dennis A. Mortensen, born Sept. 30, 1939 to Carl and Verne Mortensen returned to his Heavenly Father on Sun., Feb. 27, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. He married his childhood sweetheart Janet Kay Erickson on Oct. 10, 1958. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity to their six children.
Dennis was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather whose example of strength and optimism will never be forgotten. He was a well-respected businessman who touched the many lives of those who knew him. Dad’s life was his family. We all love him and will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife Janet and children, D. Cardell and Mary Mortensen, Price, Kyle Lynn and Ruth Ann Mortensen, Elmo, Cory Ray and Jennifer Mortensen, Price, Kelly Roy and Ruschelle Mortensen, Elmo, and Karlene and Brodie Barnes, Alpine; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers and sisters Vanee and Aullen Larsen, Altamont, Elroy and Janice Mortensen, Elmo, Maryla and Jack Adams, Elmo and Ricki and Allen Edwards, Price. Preceded in death by his son Brent K. Mortensen and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wed. March 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Elmo LDS Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Wednesday at the Elmo church. Burial in the Elmo Cemetery.
Charmian Cummings Stevensonn
1943-2005
Loving wife and mother
Charmian Cummings Stevenson, our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on Feb. 27, 2005 after a battle with cancer. She was born April 5, 1943 in Salt Lake City.
She graduated from Olympus High School in 1961. She was married on March 9, 1962 to the late Lee R. Coulson and had four children. On Sept. 6, 1972 she married James William Stevenson and bore seven more children and befriended the five children from James William’s prior marriage. They made Emery their home in the spring of 1974.
She dedicated her whole life to raising her children. She blessed their lives and did her best to coach them in the ways of her beliefs. She spent many hours listening to and advising her children in an attempt to remedy every worry and concern.
Charmian had a firm belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an excellent pianist and earlier in her life held the position as pianist and primary chorister in the church. She faithfully viewed and recorded every LDS conference.
She had an unquenchable desire to learn. She studied medical, nutritional, self-help, and gospel books. Even her challenge with glaucoma did not deter her quest for knowledge.
Preceded in death by her parents Harold Moses and Lorraine Ivy Brinkman Cummings; surviving brothers and sisters, Sylvia LaRae Young, her twin Charles Harold Cummings, Kathleen Stevenson, Jay Fred Cummings, and Joy Emily Cummings. Survived by her husband of 32 years, daughters and sons, LeeAnn Trujillo, Lee R. Coulson, Aleesa Ann Burgess, Gaylee Greer, James Daniel Stevenson, Sherry Dawn Otterstrom, Janette Stevenson, Gesica Charmian Lowe, Teresa Charlene Bernier, Tawna LaNae Stevenson, Jana Marie Stevenson; recognized daughters and sons, Denise Stevenson, Carl William Stevenson, Genine Stevenson, the late James William Stevenson, Jr., Caroline Maggie Stevenson, 30 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
We will forever love and miss you dearly. Your love and sacrifice has left footprints in our hearts that will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wed. March 2, 2005 in the Emery LDS Chapel. Friends can call one hour prior. Burial will be in the Emery Cemetery.
Floyd Brotherson
WELLINGTON-Our loving husband, dedicated brother, daddy to his girls, and father and friend to many, Floyd Douglas Brotherson, age 82 passed away Feb. 23, 2005 at home while surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 19, 1922 in Price, to Nelse Douglas and Alice Cecelia Grames Brotherson. Member of the LDS Church. Lifelong resident of Carbon County where he graduated from Carbon High School and later attended CEU. Served US Army in World War II. Member V.F.W. Miners Post #2379 and Price American Legion Post #3. Floyd was a retired member of the UMWA Hiawatha Local #9958 with 40 years of dedicated service. He served as past president for the Council of Aging and was a member of the RSVP Senior Citizen Center. He enjoyed playing cards and caring for his beautiful garden and flowers. Floyd spent many hours gardening and his green thumb could make anything grow.
Survived by his loving companion, Jackie Thayne, Wellington; four daughters, Nelda L. (Brent) Davies, Anchorage, Alaska; Ruby J. (Phil) Greer, Grants Pass, Ore.; Mary M. (Brent) Wilder, Wellington; Alice F. (Scott) Warren, Price; brother, Clyde (Betty) Brotherson, Los Banos, Calif.; sisters, Gayle Atwood, Vivian Grako, both of Price; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mildred Warner, Madrel McKee; grandsons, Michael Anthony Gomez and Dustin Roy Wilder.
Funeral Service was held on Mon. Feb. 28, 2005 at 1 p.m. Wellington LDS Stake Center. Family was at Mitchells on Sunday and at the stake center prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
