Carole Larsen
Candidate for Orangeville Council
I was born in Salt Lake City, but I have lived in Orangeville longer, so I now consider myself homegrown. I am married to Gordon Larsen from Ferron. When we moved to Orangeville 31 years ago, I felt like I was coming home. We have raised four children here and are now the proud grandparents of five girls and one boy.
I have been the Orangeville Public Librarian for 27 years which has given me the opportunity to meet many of the great people of Orangeville. I started when the library was in the basement of the old school house, utilizing only one room, and was involved in moving into the new building that is the library today. I have made many friends through my work, not only with the patrons but also with my coworkers and have had good working relationships with them.
I have seen many improvements during the time that I have lived in Orangeville, that can be attributed to the past and present city leaders and workers. If I am elected, I would continue with the vision of making Orangeville the best place to live and raise a family. To do this we all need to be involved in community decisions. But in order to do this, we must work together, we can’t work against each other. I would like to be involved in bringing Orangeville into the future but maintaining the small town atmosphere that we enjoy.
James Davis
Candidate for Orangeville Council
I’ve felt like Orangeville has been a part of me for most of my life. I’ve had the privilege to visit family here for most of it. I moved here more than seven years ago under not the best of circumstances. I found myself a single parent and realized that it would be extremely difficult for my children to raise me alone, so we moved here to be close to family.
Everything happens for a reason it seems to me, and since moving to Orangeville I have learned the value of having family within walking distance of home. I have found new friends and neighbors and a community I believe very strongly in. Most importantly, I have found the love of my life in Orangeville. I now have three more children and am a grandfather twice over, all after three years of marriage.
In short, I have been very blessed in my life and I can trace most of those blessings to the fact that I am lucky enough to be a resident of Orangeville. I think I would be ungrateful indeed and set a horrible example for my children if I did not attempt to give something back for the blessings I have received. That’s why I chose to become a candidate for City Council, and no other reason. If I can help this community I will, in any way that I can.
If elected to City Council I will roll up my sleeves and get to work building on the great things Orangeville city leaders have already done. I believe that I can be of help to this community and will do my best to give that help. If I am elected to City Council I will do my best to represent the interests of not only those who vote for me, but for those who chose not to vote for me. If I am not elected to City Council, then I will still be here, willing and ready to help in any way that I can. I have been fortunate to have parents who have taught me the value of work and I will work for this community in whatever capacity I am able. If elected, I will represent the citizens to the best of my ability. If not, then my back is still reasonably strong and I own a shovel and know how to start it. What needs to be done?
Jackie Wilson
Candidate for Huntington Mayor
Hi, my name, for those of you who don’t know me, is Jackie Wilson. I was born Oct. 24, 1950 and I’ve lived in Huntington all my life.
As a young girl I spent many hours on the mountains and in the desert herding cows. I loved horses and rode in many riding clubs. I graduated in 1969 from Emery High School., where I received many honors and was a member of the drill team.
In September 1969, I married Boyd Wilson and we are still happily married and just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. In our early years, I managed “Walt’s” for several years. Then we started our family, Cody, now 32, Cacey, 30, and Cheyanne, who is 27. As my children got older I started working at Huntington Elementary, where I am now putting in my 24th year.
I am proud to say I have three sons, Cody, Cacey and Matt, three daughters, Cheyann, Kenna and Lindsay, the mothers of our six beautiful grandchildren, Brookelynn, Bradin, Kylee, Hunter, Payton and Daxton, the loves of my life who I spend as much time with as I can.
Through the years, I’ve been a member of the Huntington City Council prior to being elected Mayor where my duties included parks and beautification, cemetery and rodeo ground improvements and I also served as chairperson over Heritage Days. I now sit on the Castle Valley Special Service District board and the Emery County Boundary Commission.
I am very concerned about the citizens of our town and the future of our city.

My name is Bob Mills. I am running for four year city council member. I have been on Huntington City council for two years.
I am a native of Huntington, and I have been both employer and employee. I have experienced the needs of both sides.
I believe we should preserve Huntington as a rural community and lifestyle. We need to upgrade our services to meet modern day needs and protect the safety of our community.

Jeff Tuttle
Candidate for Orangeville Mayor
Hello, I’d like to take this opportunity to share some of my thoughts and tell you about myself. I have lived in Orangeville since 1981, I met my wife here and we have raised four children here in this city. I started working in the coal mines and for the last 20 years I have been employed by Johansen and Tuttle Engineering.
I have been a member of the Emery County Search and Rescue for 22 years. I am serving in my second term as city councilman with my responsibilities being over the city roads, and the water and sewer departments.
I think Orangeville is a great place to live, I have seen many improvements in our city to our parks, curb/gutter, sidewalks, water, sewer, drainage and street projects that have benefited our community. I will continue this effort. I can remember the days when if you went too fast on some of our roads you might knock out your front teeth from a chuck hole or get stuck in the road after a storm.
I think we have a lot of great people who live in Orangeville. I also think we can work on some things here in Orangeville to make it an even better place to live for us and our children. I will do what is in the best interest for Orangeville City.

Joe Trenery
Candidate for Ferron Council
I was born in California. I married Daria Anderson in 1967 and we moved to Ferron in 1968. We have two sons, Matt and Marc, and five grandchildren. Following the move to Ferron, I worked with the United States Forest Service for four years.
I started working in the coal mines, and I worked at the Wilberg, Cottonwood and Trail Mountain mines. I was the maintenance foreman and underground construction foreman for 27 years.
I started Trenery Tractor Service and I put in sprinkler lines on farms.
I have worked on the Peach Days celebrations for 15 years.
I’ve been on the Ferron City Council and the planning and zoning commission for two years. Along with the planning and zoning, I take care of the fairgrounds, city equipment and buildings, and Peach Days.
Cathy Cowley
Candidate for Huntington Council
Cathy Cowley married Paul Cowley 34 years ago and made Huntington their home. Cathy has, in the last three decades, filled her life with service beginning with the PTA while her sons were in school. She was a Cub Scout leader on both the local and district levels for 10 years.
She has many years of church service in leadership capacity. These last four years she has been on the Huntington Beautification Committee and has worked hard with the others on that committee to make Main Street beautiful. She cares about Huntington and the people who live there.
Mike Hurdsman
Candidate for Huntington Council
Mike Hurdsman and his wife Judy have made Huntington their home for themselves and six children for the past 32 years. Mike moved his family here when Utah Power and Light offered him an electrical apprenticeship during the construction of the first unit at the Huntington Power Plant. Mike worked at the plant in Union as well as management positions until he took an early retirement to start his own business.
He enjoys farming and working with the livestock. Hunting, fishing, rock hounding, genealogy, and archeology are among his favorite pastimes. He has been active in and supports many organizations, which include Utah State Archeology Society, Utah Bowmen Association, Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Utah Mule Deer Foundation, and has been serving as the Chairman of Emery County Chamber of Commerce for the past two years. He has been involved in Boy Scouts of America for more than 25 years serving as varsity leader, assistant scoutmaster, unit chairman, and district positions. He has served in his church in several leadership positions as well as working with the youth in his ward. His wife and family are the love of his life.
Mike has served as state representative to the Republican convention from his precinct for the past two terms. He believes that government has too much intervention in our day to day lives and we are over regulated. He believes in individual owners property rights and that the natural resources of this great nation are the right of the people to use and develop for the needs of all. Our water, timber, coal, gypsum, sand and gravel, land and other resources are the wealth of this land and should belong to our people not the government. He believes that God creates these things for the use of man and we should and must be wise stewards over these things. He knows that our way of life here in this area is unique, but realizes that we must have growth to be able to keep what we have. Fewer people cannot keep paying more and more for constant rising costs in all the services we have come to enjoy.
Marc K. Stilson
Candidate for Orangeville Council
Marc Stilson grew up in Orangeville, served a LDS mission to Louisiana and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University. For the past 11 years Marc has worked on various engineering projects throughout the state, including more than 30 dam projects. During this time he also spent two years in St. George working as project manager for the construction of Sand Hollow Dam. In February 2002 Marc moved back to Orangeville and opened a branch office of RB&G Engineering. He currently serves as Chairman of Emery County Economic Development Council which recently organized and hosted the 2005 Castle Valley Economic Summit. Marc and his wife Korinda have two girls and three boys and are expecting another new baby boy in November. He enjoys sports, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
The most likely natural disasters that may impact Orangeville are earthquakes and floods. If elected, Marc’s top priority will be to evaluate the preparedness of the city in dealing with these two potential disasters. He will focus his efforts on evaluating the flood plain that runs through town to determine if additional measures need to be taken to protect structures and lives within the community. Information, planning and disaster drills will also be considered to prepare for a major event such as a dam failure or major earthquake. He would also like to pursue the idea of organizing a city sponsored disaster relief team in case of a local event but also to be dispatched to render aid in case of a disaster in nearby communities or along the Wasatch Front.
Marc would like Orangeville to take a proactive approach to supporting our local businesses and our local elementary school. He would like to look for new ideas on how the community can support and add value to our local elementary school and find innovative ways of improving our local economy. He supports the city’s parks and trails improvements and would like to continue work on these items by providing additional recreation and physical fitness opportunities for both youth and adults. Marc believes in community involvement and neighborhood unity. He would like Orangeville to support events that bring people together for recreation and service.
Rod Toomer
Candidate for Ferron Council
Rod Toomer has lived in Ferron for more than 20 years. He is married and has two little boys. He is currently working as a lab technician at the Hunter Power Plant in Castle Dale. He has been on the planning and zoning committee for Ferron City for two years.
He is running for city council because he believes in keeping a small town atmosphere. His main goal is to get citizen involvement to help clean up the city and help return the city back to the citizens.
Jo Sansevero
Candidate for Ferron Council
Jo Sansevero was born and raised in Emery (ValJo Hess); she attended South Emery Junior High School in Ferron and later Emery High. Jo finished high school in California and went to college in Memphis, Tenn. In 1976 Jo went to work in the electrical connector industry in Southern California. In 1983 she started her own connector business J-TECH, manufacturing electrical connectors for military and heavy industry applications. For the next 16 years she was very involved as a small business owner. In 1999 Jo sold her interest in the connector business and she and Lou returned to Emery County buying a home in Ferron.
Since Jo returned to Emery County and settled in Ferron she has become very involved in the community, civic and church activities. Jo has twice been appointed to the Ferron City Council, and looks forward to being elected to four more years of service to Ferron City and its citizens. During this four year term Ferron has built a new fire house, expanded the usage of the lower park which has resulted in increased revenues to the city, and made several additions to the Mayors Park this year which included; new picnic tables, new benches new lighting for the pavilion and 10 new trees planted which will provide ample shade in future years. After four years and a succession of proprietors Jo has reestablished the Millsite Restaurant as a positive revenue source for Ferron City. Jo, together with Gil Bowden and Mark H. Williams, was instrumental in starting up the Arapeen Trail ATV Jamboree. Jo drafted the city’s ATV Ordinance to allow for and regulate ATV traffic on city streets and continues to work to further the Jamboree and its economic revenues to the city.
On a county level Jo has been involved in the Emery County Economic Development Council. This past year Jo has served as the vice chairperson of the council. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Emery and Carbon County Economic Summit and has served as its chairperson for the two years of its existence. The Summit is an opportunity for regional businesses and local entrepreneurs to meet and share ideas as well as learn techniques for expansion. It affords both businesses and the community an opportunity to grow. The Summit has just finished its second annual session and was voted a major success by the 160 people from all over the region who attended.
Jo has a leadership position in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, both the Ferron Old Mill Camp where she is finishing her second term as registrar and the county where she is the chairman of the fund raising committee. During her time with the DUP, Jo designed and procured and distributed the Ferron Afghan and more recently she was very involved in the compilation and distribution of the Ferron City history book, “A Peach of a Place.” These two fund raisers have resulted in a very positive revenue picture for the Old Mill Camp.
Jo is also very active in her church activities and enjoys being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Jo is the mother of two children Nikkole of South Jordan, and Vito of Laguna Hills, Calif., and four grandchildren all of South Jordan.
Carey Bloomer
Candidate for Clawson Mayor
I’m Carey Bloomer the current mayor of Clawson. I am seeking re-election and would appreciate the support of Clawson residents to serve again, and to complete projects the town council and I have begun.
Clawson is a great little town and I am grateful to live among the people here. I work with a dedicated town council who show by their many hours of service to our town that they care about our people.
Clawson has had a lot of growth the past few years. We need to grow, but with a general plan-so we can have some control of the growth. I would like to see more home based businesses in Clawson. The speed limit on Highway 10 needs to be lowered to ensure the safety of everyone. We all need to clean up our property. There are a few old houses that need to be demolished. We have too many junk vehicles littering our town.
I appreciate our county commissioners and the special service district for all the help they have given Clawson.
Gerry Hatch
Candidate for Clawson Councilman
Hi, my name is Gerry Hatch and I am running for a second term as councilman for Clawson City. I am married to Betty Hatch, director of the senior center in Castle Dale. I have nine children and 24 grandchildren. They really keep us running, but are the joy of our lives.
I’ve lived in Clawson for more than 20 years and have enjoyed watching it grow and develop into a pleasant town to live in. We have a new Town Hall, secondary water, are getting paved roads and a sewer system. I want to see Clawson continue to improve and become even a nicer place to live and raise kids.
There is still a lot to do and I hope that I will be allowed to help make more improvements to our town. We need our towns to be havens for not only our families, but everyone who lives in our borders. Working together for the betterment of each community is the way to achieve that goal.
Jack Rogers
Candidate for Castle Dale Council
Jack R. Rogers has been a resident of Emery County and Castle Dale since 1991- 14 years. He is married to Lorie Rogers and is the father of six daughters.
After graduating from Alamosa High School in Colorado, he continued his education at Brigham Young University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geological engineering and geology respectively. Jack started his own business doing geology/hydrogeology throughout the state and other western states. He is currently completing his first term on the Castle Dale City Council and hopes to continue that service for another term.
He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, geo-cashing and simply spending time with his wife and girls.
Ed Rasbold
Candidate for Castle Dale Council
I have been a resident of Castle Dale since 1999. Being a native of New York has enabled me to appreciate the comforts of living in Castle Dale. I care about the future of Castle Dale and look forward to serving the citizens.
I am married and have four children. My wife is a native of the area and I thank her for the opportunity to settle here.
I am running for the office of city council because I have a strong desire to serve my community city. I believe that I have the ability to make some positive contributions to Castle Dale City.
My determination to see this community to continue to thrive is evident through my public service volunteer work. Some of which included numerous hours of serving on the volunteer fire department, and as an EMT when needed for community events. I have assisted in coaching several youth teams over the past years, and enjoy watching the community as they come together to support the youth.

Dan Whiteleather

Hi, my name is Dan Whiteleather. I am currently a Castle Dale City council member and have been for the past 16 years. Parks and recreation management have been my area of responsibility.
Some of my major projects include the resurfacing of all park and rodeo grounds, and building of the new rodeo grandstand, concession stand and city shop. I have also been a member of the Emery County Recreation Board since its inception.

Jerry Price
Candidate for Clawson Councilman
My name is Jerry Price and Clawson has been my home for the most part of 27 years. I am hoping to be re-elected as a councilman for the town of Clawson. My wife Trinidi and I, with our three daughters, Jeridi, Taijah and Taleigh, have lived in Clawson for the last three years.
In the past two years as councilman, I have organized the town picnics and have been in charge of the town’s roads and signs. The last year I was able to secure a grant from the Emery County Recreation Board to build a softball field on ground donated to Clawson Town by Emery County. With the help of Castle Dale City, Joel Dorsch, Mayor Carey Bloomer, Clay Gasser, David and Tyson Hinkins, Parke Killpack, Dean Allen, Mike Jensen, Gary Price, and Nielson Construction, the ground work is nearing completion.
If re-elected I will continue to serve the people of Clawson and would like the opportunity to finish our softball field and have it playable for the 2006 season, I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming election on Nov. 8.
Glen Dale Johnson
Candidate for Green River Mayor
I am Glen Dale Johnson candidate for Mayor of Green River City. I moved to Green River in 1954, and graduated from G.R High in 1955 where I was senior class president. I married my high school sweetheart Darline Curtis and we were blessed with nine children, with one deceased and buried in the Elgin Cemetery.
Like others that chose to live in Green River, I worked at many jobs to just keep necessities for my family. In 1976 we decided as many have, that if we were going to be able to retire with any means of security I needed to go elsewhere for employment and I ended up at Utah Power and Light coal mines as supervisor over conveyor operation and maintenance. I became a very respected, responsible supervisor of men and gained much experience in budget, ordering, safety and emergency preparedness. I retired in 1995.
If reelected I will devote my time, my experience, my reputation, and contacts to help get good paying employment in Green River and hopefully you and yours will not have to leave Green River to get a good job. After all these years I still love Green River.
Vaughn Olson
Candidate for Cleveland Council
Vaughn Olson has been a resident of Cleveland for five years. He is the son of Frank and Yvonne Olson of Price. He grew up in Price and then moved with his family to Cleveland in 2000. He is married to DeDe Olson and is the proud dad of four children: Brittany, Korrin, Kaden, and Kadie.
Vaughn is employed with Utah Power and Light and works at the Hunter Power Plant in Castle Dale where he is a journeyman mechanic. He is an avid fan of Nascar racing and in his spare time he enjoys the outdoors while hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.
Gay Lee Jeffs
Candidate for Castle Dale Council
My name is Gay Lee (Larsen) Jeffs and I am a candidate for Castle Dale City Council. I was born and raised in Emery County and graduated from Emery High. I am married to Jarold Jeffs and am the proud mother of four wonderful children, ages 17-23. My three oldest children graduated from Emery High and my youngest is currently a senior at EHS. All my children have been active members of the Castle Dale City Youth Council.
I was appointed to the Castle Dale Council as the Youth City Council advisor in 2000, and continue in that position. In this position, I have worked closely with the Castle Dale City Council. I have helped plan and organize city activities such as the Easter egg hunt, summer barbecue and rodeo, pumpkin festival and the Christmas party. In 2002, I assumed the position of Emery County Youth Leadership Council chairperson.
In 1999, I went to work for Emery County Recreation Department. I work with youth and senior citizen programs and see this as an area of real importance in Castle Dale. I coordinate all recreation activities for the recreation center and Castle Dale rodeo grounds. In 2005, the recreation board appointed me as Emery County Fair director. I assist with the Desertview Pro Rodeo, Bear Creek campground operations, kids with special needs programs, and other recreation events and activities.
I will be proactive in working with citizens and city council members in the beautification of Castle Dale City. I would like to advance city unity through city celebrations and city events. Castle Dale City has a wonderful infrastructure of parks and facilities and I would work hard to maintain our beautiful city. I work with senior citizens activities at the county fair and would like to see senior citizen programs expanded in Castle Dale.
Most of you who know me have seen me for the last 10 years volunteering and assisting with special events held in Castle Dale City.
I have been, and remain, dedicated to making Castle Dale City a better place to live, work and play.

I am a retired farmer and have lived in Clawson for 40 years. If elected, I would strive for growth while maintaining the small town qualities we like in this town.

I have lived in Clawson for nearly 20 years. Throughout this time I have watched many people serve the town of Clawson in various positions, and by watching them I realize that it takes hard work and dedication to build a successful community.
I am running for a four year term on the Clawson Town Council because I enjoy working with the public and I know this would be a great opportunity to serve the citizens of Clawson. I also know it would be an opportunity to contribute to the success of our growing community.
Tom Burr

I have lived in Green River for 37 years. Having been raised in the area, I am very acquainted with the community. For 34 years I served as an educator for the Emery County School District.
I have been involved and am experienced with bringing cable TV to Green River, and I am promoting two new school buildings for our town. I have served Green River in the following positions: Utah State Council for the aging; Emery County Council for the aging; Four Corners Behavioral Health Board; Four Corners Public Health Board; Moab area travel council; two terms as councilman for Green River; Green River beautification committee; and am on the John Wesley Powell River History Museum board.
My philosophy is to preserve the best we have from the past, build a community we can be proud of for the future, where people will want to live and raise a family. I am retired, and have the experience to meet and address the challenges of the office.
Ed Bentley
Candidate for Green River Mayor
Citizens of Green River-I am honored by the show of support I have received from you thus far. It is not over yet. I wish to let you know more about myself. I was born and raised in rural Michigan. Michigan is obviously much colder and more humid there than here in the desert of the American Southwest, but it is not much different than Green River. I lived in an area very much dependent on mining and tourism. Like Green River the economy was drastically affected when they lost the mines and the local military base. Unfortunately they did not capitalize on the situation and sunk into economic and social depression. To this day the economy continues to suffer and more and more people are leaving to seek livelihoods elsewhere in the big cities. This is a fate that I do not want to see happen to Green River. We have so much potential.
I have spoken with many of you. Many of you still have a dream for your families and our town. Some of you have been able to break free and have started to prosper. You are leading the way and paving a trail for others to follow It is time for our city to break free and to go onwards and upwards. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History from Brigham Young University. I then entered the academy to become a sworn police officer and was then hired by the Utah Highway Patrol. Green River is my first assignment.
I have enjoyed living and working here among you. My wife and I were impressed with the community and felt comfortable buying a home here to raise our family. Our children feel safe here. (Safe enough even to wander around from time to time!) I am the oldest of five children. My wife is the oldest daughter of eight children. As the son of an Army serviceman I have lived all around the country. I have also had the opportunity to live in Venezuela. While living in Venezuela I was able to see what it was like to live where people do not have the freedoms that we have. I have also lived in parts of our country where the citizens have not exercised the freedoms that they have. This community has great potential.
We have done great things, but we are capable of so much more. I see the future of Green River as bright. I see a Green River with a strong foundation of industry. Small business owners will bring more families to our community and help keep our children here. I see a Green River bursting with pride, but working with its neighbors as the true heart of Castle Country. We are not only the geographical center of Castle Country, but we are the social center as well. It is time that we let everyone in the world know this! We already have a tourism base, let’s strengthen it. We have been blessed with so many wonderful sights we need only to promote them.
Contrary to what we have been told this is not expensive. It does require some effort and hard work though. We have a rich heritage and history. People from around the world are interested in us and our area. We need only to introduce them. By cooperating with our neighbors we help ourselves too. There are things we need to do to strengthen our community.
Finally I wish to bring honesty, openness, and a cooperative spirit to the office of Mayor. As mayor I work for you, not the other way around! I will be your representative to the City Council, Emery County, our neighboring counties, and the State of Utah.

I am grateful to the Emery County Progress for their interest in local government and their willingness to print this article.
If elected Mayor of Huntington, I pledge to its citizens that my first priority would be to put emphasis on basic services such as the fire department, clean-up, weeds, animal control, cemetery, rodeo grounds, parks and beautification. My administration would be positive and helpful. Secondly, I support policies, procedures and tax rates that encouraged and promote economic growth. We need to do a better job of supporting and helping our local businesses. Thirdly, Huntington City must be committed more than it is to community development and beautification. We can achieve our goals if we work together and cooperate.
Many people have expressed to me that it is time for a change in Huntington.

I am running for council because I feel it is important that we continue to work for improvements in our town, namely curb and gutter, and the firestation. Our town is growing and we need to keep up with the growth.

I’m Kirt Rasmussen and I am running for Elmo Town Mayor. I was raised in Emery County. Seven years ago my wife and I chose to live in Elmo because it is a quiet and peaceful place to raise our family. I hope to help continue working to make our town a place we can be proud of. I appreciate the good hard working people who live in Elmo and look forward to working with them in the future.

After working 27 years for the Food and Drug Administration, I retired to Emery 10 years ago. My roots reach deep in this town, as do so many of our citizens. My two children and three grandchildren live close by up north. I have served Emery for the past eight years, and it is my privilege to again be running for mayor.
We’ve completed many projects, without giving up our “small town feeling.” Some of our accomplishments include these grants: purchasing the Jaws of Life for our fire department; two grants for our playground; remodeling of the post office; two grants to protect and remodel our old church; three “catch basins” at the foot of the mountain to protect our town from future flooding; and significant CVSSD grant for piping, curbs and gutters.
Other progress noted in the past few years: worked closely with county commissioners to acquire, and double the size of, new senior center; sidewalk at senior center; fence around the cemetery; purchase of new snow plow/dump truck; fire department insurance rating increase, resulting in lower homeowners’ premium rates; new riding lawn mower for maintenance of town; enlarged Emery Park pavilion and sound-system installed; computerized the Town Office functions; acquired new accounting system, thereby saving the town thousands of dollars; our reserve funds have tripled in the past eight years, due to conservative spending, even though we continue to make improvements in our town.
Our Youth Town Council is active and ongoing – we strongly support them.
I am associated with many worthwhile organizations, among them serving on the Board of Directors of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. Other positions I’ve held and serve as are Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Center; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Four Corners Community Behavioral Health; Vice President/President of the Emery County Historical Society, Board of Directors of Emery County Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Emery County Community Foundation.
New projects are in the works for Emery. A much-needed recreation center is being planned. Many activities can be “kept right at home” when we have our center. A committee is being formed to plan for Homeland Security for Emery – a plan to be self-sufficient until aid can reach us in the event of a disaster.
Serving Emery for the next four years will be an honor.
