The Emery County Fair Committee is busy preparing for the upcoming Emery County fair. On day two of the fair which is Thur. Aug. 4 events will begin at 11 a.m. for the youth and teenagers with more traditional activities in the evening hours.
The National Guard climbing wall will be set-up in the park and all climbers will climb for free, courtesy of the Emery County Fair. The youth are big fans of the dunking tank which will be in the park all day. Come and dunk someone or be dunked! A muddy good time will be the mud tug-o-war game. Plans for eating contests include ice cream eating and pie throwing will be part of the action.
The Farm Bureau Talent Find will begin at 4 p.m. under the Big Top. The exhibits will be open and the Emery County Chamber of Commerce lamb fry begins at 5 p.m. The fair committee is excited about the outstanding lineup of food vendors which will be in the food court. The food court is the newly prepared area just north of the recreation building. Electricity and grass have been added to the site to accommodate the food vendors. Some food items will include: buffalo burgers, BBQ ribs, Panda Express and other mouth watering treats. Locals are also encouraged to come down and see who is open for the lunch crowd.
Two stages will be put into use to bring the finest of entertainment to the Emery County residents and visitors to the fair.
A secret that must be shared includes the giving away of an ATV at the Highway 101 concert on Sat. Aug. 6. The winning child must be present to win. Kids 12 and under are eligible to win this ATV. Tickets will be given throughout the fair activities and the children will sign their tickets and place them in the container for the drawing. The children can enter as many times as they wish increasing their chances to win the free ATV. No purchase necessary just come and participate in the activities. The Highway 101 concert is free to the public and includes opening acts J. Mark Bailey and Brandy Frampton. Another door crasher will be the drawings for free vacations given by a local business. Must be present at the concert to be a winner.
Fair plans will continue in next week’s Emery County Progress. This is one fair you won’t want to miss. “New Ideas, New Dreams and New Beginnings,” is the theme for this year’s fair.
