Emery High Graduation
Emery High School graduation will be held on May 25 at 7 p.m. in the Spartan Center. Graduates are requested to observe a dignified dress code and the audience is requested to observe a dignified atmosphere during the program. Children are requested to remain seated with their parents and no food or drink is to be brought into the Spartan Center. Let’s all work together to make this graduation an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
Workshop Offered for Educators
A two day workshop on Utah’s wetlands and forest resources is offered to formal and non-formal educators interested in learning new methods and curriculum that are effective. It will be held June 5-6 at Circleville Elementary (300 South Center Street, Circleville). The workshop will be from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. The cost will be $15 per day. Hunter Safety Class
A hunter safety class will be held May 30-June 2 from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day at the Emery County Recreation Center. For ages 11 and up. You must pre-register by May 26 at the Rec Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. For more info call the Rec Center at 381-2108.
Senior Beginners Line Dancing
Come get a little exercise and a lot of fun. Every Thursday and learn the very basics from Kitty Larsen starting May 25 at 10 a.m. at the Castle Dale Senior Center. The class is free. Call 381-2422.
Emery County Historical Society
The Emery County Historical Society welcomes you to join them for their monthly event at Quitchupah May 18. They will meet at State Park in Emery at 5:30 p.m. to travel to this unique area and be guided by President Mike Williams to view the pictographs, petroglyphs and Indian ruins.
Miss Cleveland

Canyon View Closing Program
The ninth grade class at Canyon View Junior High School will be honored at the Closing Program to be held May 19 at 6 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. All students, family and friends are welcome to attend. Following the program, refreshments will be offered in the school’s cafeteria. A dance will also be held that evening for nonprobationary Canyon View students only from 7-10 p.m.
Farm Service Agency
Nominations for candidates to run for the Farm Service Agency county committee election will be accepted from June 15- Aug. 1. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters by Nov. 3 and ballots must be returned by Dec. 4 to the FSA county office. New committee members and alternates will be installed on Jan. 1, 2007.
ATV Safety Class
An ATV safety class that makes youth 8-15 legal to ride on public land, will be held June 1 at the county building in Castle Dale, at 7 p.m. You must preregister at Emery County Recreation, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale, by May 26. Seniors: Change on Goblin Valley Trip

Emery County Golf Tournament Tour
A two day golf event will be held at Green River Golf Course on June 3 and at Millsite Golf Course on June 4. This will be a two day tournament. The format at Green River will be a two man scramble, and at Millsite a two man best ball. The second day of the tournament will be flighted, there will be a gross payout with added money. Veterans of Foreign Wars
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on May 18 and June 22 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.
ACT Testing
The next nationwide ACT test date is June 10. Students must register online or have registration postmark deadline is May 19. An additional $18 fee is required for late registration. Register online at www.actstudent.org
Food Handler’s Class
Food handler’s classes will be held in Price on June 14 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Southeastern Utah District Health Department. Classes will also be taught in Castle Dale at the health department on May 18 and June 15 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. There is a charge and the class is two hours long. Haircuts in Huntington
Huntington City Youth Council will be doing a community service project for Locks of Love on June 3. Everyone wishing to donate their hair is welcome. Hairstylists will be on hand to style the newly cut hair. Let your hair grow until June 3. Permed and colored hair is OK, no bleached hair.
Housing Preservation Grants Pre-application
USDA Rural Development is accepting pre-applications until 5 p.m. May 19 for housing preservation grants. This grant provides funds to eligible organizations, local governments, nonprofit corporations, federally recognized Indian tribes, and consortia of eligible entities, to conduct housing preservation programs benefiting very low and low-income rural residents. Produced Water Workshop

Archaeology Camp and Field School

Dinosaur Paleontology Camp
A Dinosaur Paleontology Camp will be held on June 19-23 at the CEU Bone Preparation Lab and Price River Quarry Site. The workshop is designed for incoming 10 through 12 grade high school students. Students have to have a 3.0 grade point average or a letter of recommendation from a science instructor. The cost is $200. Sign-ups will be held at the town halls in Ferron, Orangeville, Castle Dale, and Huntington.

Local Veterans Employment Representative
A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Miss Emery Seeks Contestants
The Miss Emery Pageant will be held on July 15 at 7 p.m. The pageant committee is seeking those girls who would like to participate in the pageant.

Tip Line for Drug Violations
A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.
