A man’s body was found in the Village Inn motel in Castle Dale on May 25. The man, Wayne Lynn Esplin, 55, from Cedar City didn’t go to work on May 24 and May 25. His boss called the Village Inn on May 25 to see if they knew anything as to his whereabouts.
Around 10 a.m. on May 24 the maid had looked into the room and saw the man who she thought was sleeping so she closed the door. On May 25, she also looked into the room and saw the man there in the same position and became suspicious and called the sheriff’s office.
Esplin was a member of the Ironworkers Union and in town working on the overhaul at the Hunter Plant.
The sheriff’s office notified the family and they didn’t know of any medical conditions of Esplin.
Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon said the body has been sent to the state medical examiners office to determine the exact cause of death.
Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn said the death didn’t look suspicious in anyway and the man apparently died while laying in bed watching TV. The room was locked from the inside. Deputy Garrett Conover and Sgt. Jeff Thomas assisted Blackburn with the investigation at the scene.
After the exact cause of death has been determined the body will be released to family along with all personal belongings gathered at the scene.
