Ninth grade students said their final goodbye to San Rafael Junior High while they head for their new high school experience. The closing program was held on May 24. Ninth grade class president Marie Harvey welcomed everyone to the closing program.
Chris Clarke talked about being the cause instead of waiting for the effect. Work hard and be the cause for things happening. Don’t just sit around and expect everything to happen by itself. You have to put the wood in the stove and the gas in the car before you will get a reaction.
The ninth grade chorus sang a parting blessing.
Justin Cox started by saying “Fathers and mothers are the most influential people in our lives today.” He spoke of all the help his parents have given him. Pick good friends that will help you succeed in life. Parents are there to help you with your home and friends at school, at sports or just goofing off. He ending by thanking his parents for all their love and support.
Jason Giles recalled a game playing Mont Harmon. Coach Hales told the team that the reason they won that game is because no one gave up and they worked as a team. It was one of the best seasons because the team worked together and never put each other down. “Work hard and do your best and always remember to have a good attitude,” said Giles.
Dustin Jensen played the musical selection, Bumble Bee Boogie on the piano.
“I always remember the story of the wise man and the foolish man,” Taylor Tanner spoke. There have been so many people who have helped us build a rock hard foundation. Remember to always thank our teachers, family, administration and our heros in the trenches. “The world is at our door and our choices are endless. Let’s work together and make sure the class of 2009 leaves no classmate behind,” encouraged Tanner.
Principal Garth Johnson spoke to the class and audience saying we are not only proud of our students but we care about them also. The teachers have really strived to help them the best way they could. “We hope you accomplished more than just learning math and science and so forth. You are our future. You are powerful kids and you are using your minds to better the world.” said Johnson.
