Warm Coats Campaign
You can help keep a child warm this winter by helping the United Way of Southeastern Utah in the 2nd annual Warm Kids Project: Coins for Coats Campaign. Donations of cash are needed for new coats and gently-used coats, hats, and gloves will also help people in Emery County. Line Dance Group
“Get a Life…Dance” group meets Mondays and Wednesdays of each week at 9:30 a.m. Mondays at Ferron Senior Center, and Wednesdays at Castle Dale Stake Center. The leaders are Kitty Larsen (748-5772) and Irene Hancock (384-2281).
Book Signing
Kathy Larsen, Castle Dale author of the new Olympic book “Celebrate the Fire Within” will be at county libraries on the following dates: Dec. 5 at Cleveland from 2-4 p.m; in Elmo on Dec. 5 from 4-6 p.m; in Castle Dale on Dec. 7 from 4-6 p.m; in Orangeville on Dec. 10 from 4-6 p.m; in Ferron on Dec. 11 from 4-6 p.m; in Huntington on Dec. 12 from 4-6 p.m. She will be at the Price City library on Dec. 6 from 4-7:30 p.m. Larsen will also be doing book presentations at Castle Dale Elementary on Nov. 28 throughout the day and will also be attending the book fair that evening to speak with people.
Reading Road Trip
The Castle Dale library is continuing its reading road trip for preschoolers every other Tuesday, at 10:30 p.m. An Arctic Trip is planned for Dec. 4, a trip to the North Pole will be Dec. 18. Don’t miss these exciting adventures with your children. Call 381-2554 for more information.
Craft Fair
Huntington Elementary will hold it’s annual Craft Fair on Dec. 5, from 12:30 -3 p.m. in the school gym. There will be entertainment, craft and Christmas items, food, and many other items. For questions call 687-9954.
Emery Care Center
The employees at the Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Center are having a Craft Fair on Dec. 6-7, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The public is welcome. Come and see all the gift items available to help you get ready for Christmas.
Ferron Elementry Store
The annual 6th Grade Christmas Store is open on Dec. 6 (1-5 p.m.), and Dec. 7 (1-2:30 p.m.), with all craft, decorations, and gift items on display in the glass cabinet in the main hall at Ferron Elementary. Have fun shopping at school.
Christmas Recital
The Emery County Piano Teachers Association will be holding their annual Honors Christmas Recital on Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. in the Emery High Auditorium. The public is welcome to attend and enjoy this exciting event.
Muzzleloaders
The BookCliff Muzzleloaders are having a Meat Shoot on Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. for men, women and children at Pinnacle Peak Range on the road west of the CastleView Hospital. Also shooting for two lambs and the price is right. For more information call Von Johnston at 637-3255.
Wolves in Utah
On Dec. 13, at 12:30 p.m.at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River, the Canyon Country Partnership will present Dr. Mike Wolfe, Division of Wildlife Resources who will present “The Wolf in Utah.”
Christmas in Cleveland
Many events are scheduled in Cleveland surrounding Christmas and honoring town Heroes. On Dec. 15, at 5:30 p.m. meet at the City Hall for caroling throughout the town, 6:30 p.m. is tree decorating and at City Hall, 6:45 p.m. is a party at the LDS church with Santa then an Awards ceremony to honor local heroes with dinner and entertainment to follow. Veteran’s Outreach
On Dec. 12, the service officer from the American Legion will be at the Department of Workforce Services in Price to assist you in understanding and applying for VA benefits from 9 -10:30 a.m. For more information and paper you will need, call 801-524-6040, before scheduled date.

Elmo Christmas Plans
On Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. citizens of Elmo welcome the public to bring an ornament and help decorate the Town Christmas tree. A lighting ceremony will be followed with an Awards Ceremony to honor town heroes then Santa will visit the Elmo Library with treats.
Darkness to Light

Huntington and Lawrence Events
At 6 p.m. on Dec. 15, residents of Huntington and Lawrence will be caroling and decorating the Christmas tree in the Huntington City Park. An award ceremony honoring local heroes will precede Santa who will bring treats. Gift baskets will be taken to special citizens on this happy occasion. The public is welcome to come and sing, help decorate, and enjoy this time of sharing our freedoms together.
GED Testing Days
Any GED candidate who has not successfully completed all five tests, please call to schedule for the last days for GED testing at the College of Eastern Utah, Dec. 5-6, 12-13. Important to complete now. A new version and series of tests will begin in Jan. 2002 and current scores cannot be converted to new testing.
BLM Christmas Trees
The Price office of the Bureau of Land Management at 125 South 600 West, will sell Christmas tree permits for personal use Nov. 20-Dec. 22. There is a fee. No more than three permits can be purchased for other families at one time. For list of places to cut trees, call 435-636-3600.
New Museum Displays

Local Poetry Book
Do you have a Cowboy Poem? The Emery County Historic Preservation Commission has a new project of collecting poems, old and new, about and by people of Emery County, which will be edited and illustrated by locals as part of preserving Emery County’s Folk Art. You will only need to send it once and we will include it each week.
Castle Dale LDS Stake
Castle Dale 1st and 2nd Wards meet at 11 a.m. and 9 a.m., in the Stake Center on Main Street. Orangeville 1st and 2nd Wards also meet at 11 a.m. and 9 am, respectively, on Main Street. Orangeville 3rd and Castle Dale 3rd Wards meet in the building on 8th North in Castle Dale, at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively. In all cases, Sacrament Meeting is first, followed by Primary, Youth and Adult classes.
Independent Baptist
The Castle Dale Independent Baptist Church holds services each Sunday morning at 10 a.m. for Sunday School and at 11 a.m. for Worship Service. There is a Bible study each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. All services are held at the Castle Dale Senior Citizens Center. Everyone invited. Mission San Rafael, south of Huntington, holds Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 1:30 p.m.; St. Michael the Archangle in Green River is Saturdays at 6 p.m.; and the Notre Dame de Lourdes in Price, is each Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m.
