The Henderson family of Castle Dale started off the new year with a brand new edition to their family as their daughter became the first Emery County baby to be born in 2002.
Lisa Henderson gave birth to her daughter, Anna Grace, at their home in Castle Dale, on Jan. 2 at 9:40 p.m. Lisa and her husband, James, had planned on having their baby at their home. Midwives, Joyce Simmon and Kathy O’Bryant, assisted Lisa as she gave birth to her healthy, 7 pound, 12 ounce daughter.
Baby Anna Grace was welcomed to the world by her brother’s Kaleb, 6, Joshua, 3, and her sister Leah, 5. Joshua was also born at home and with two of her children having been born at home and two at the hospital, Lisa, who teaches Bradley Natural Childbirth classes, said she prefers childbirth at home.
“I like it because you can have the people with you that you want to be there. My children could be there.”
James, who is a pharmacist at Boyd’s Pharmacy in Castle Dale, agreed. “It’s much more relaxing,” he said.
Anna’s brothers and sister were excited to welcome the newest member of the family to their home and, according to their mom, couldn’t wait to love on her.
