Bomb Threat Lands Man Behind Bars

A Las Vegas man faces charges of making a terrorist threat after telling a Green River motel clerk he had a bomb in his car.
Members of the Emery County Sheriff’s Office and the Utah Highway Patrol responded to a call from the Comfort Inn in Green River on Wednesday after the desk clerk reported that a man had told him he had a bomb in his car.
According to Sheriff Lamar Guymon, a 25 year old North Las Vegas man entered the Comfort Inn with his girlfriend and told the desk clerk that he had a bomb in his car and that there was a dead body in the trunk. The desk clerk reported that the man had told him to call the police.
Sgt. Mitch Vetere of the sheriff’s office, Trooper Warren Nelson of the highway patrol and Deputy Guy Webster of the sheriff’s office responded to the scene. By the time Webster and Nelson arrived Vetere had taken the suspect into custody. The area was searched and more deputies responded to the scene. After interviewing the suspect’s girlfriend the vehicle was searched. No explosives or body was found. The suspect was detained in the Grand County Jail facing terrorist threat charges.
